In the Netherlands all electric scooters are illegal except a literal handful that are insurable. The nett effect is that all electric scooters and other PEVs are illegal so the actual laws in NL regulating electric scooters aren't any limiting factor😢

That's interesting. The Netherlands has always been so liberal in everything. Strange that they don't like e-scooters :)

@@ElectricWheelers No wonder why many dutch people don't trust or like the government policies, because the our government doesn't really care about improving the mobility like legalising LEV vehicles or make living standards more affordable. Instead they are cutting buslines and increase transit fares like its a big fuck you to the low and middle class citizens who been already exposed on high taxes and all different kinds of society problems.

Would be interesting to know how the actual enforcement of these laws is done in each country. Which countries are very strict on policing e-scooters and which are more lenient and free and allow you to ride any scooter you want as long as you ride responsibly and don't do stupid stuff like taking your scooter on the highway. There are people riding fast scooters that break all these rules in nearly every EU country, so having a general idea of police enforcement would be really useful.

Thank you this was a good overview on the law for scooters. I really think they are being to harsh on this form of transport , I don't see any reason why they can't allow them to go 30, and limiting power to 250w is simply pointless idea, 1000w is a good start. Complicating things with insurance is just going to make it a big hassle for most to get into the idea. Everything is getting more and more expensive and insurance on top. In UK it is totally illegal to ride a personal scooter because of some law from the 1800s 😂. Most people ride without any issues .

It's wild that helmets are not mandatory. Anyone who's hit their head on the concrete should agree.

I totally agree with you!

I agree. As same with bicycles, helmets should be mandatory.

Thanks for the video. And it’s sad, that now I need to sell my scooter that I wanted to bring to Germany from US. Cause it has dual-1000w motors and that it needs to be insured 🤦🏼♂️ Bye-bye 50mph rides 😭😭😭

Yeah, it's much more strict in the EU than it's in the USA.

We use the roads & bicycle lanes as a privilege, not a right - so when on your eScooter/eBike, just imagine EVERY driver is out to kill you. BE CAREFULL OUT THERE...... Very interesting overview, thank you.

The EU is ruining everything. Now they want to add mandatory insurance to children's bikes. INSURANCE!
