We have a few volvo ev tracktors but we only use them for very short runs. I've only driven them in the yard. Most of our routes are just too far

I drive for Walmart, we used these trucks in California for about 2 months a quickly realized they are garbage and will not do the job at the pace we want them to. We even tried to use electric autonomous yard goats to dock and undock trailers, and they didn't work either.

There's a lot of drop and hook going on at the stores for GM trailers. Charging at the docks is not feasible. Plus, the inner-city areas that are tight on real estate won't have room for trucks sitting around for an hour or so, plugging up the accesses. I wonder if Walmart is just testing the publicity... I know they want a progressive image but the almighty dollar still reigns. The only feasible way I see this happening is to buy even more trucks, expand domicile locations, and relay the trailers to keep them moving while trucks are recharging. Yard to yard to store, store to yard to yard. Any savings in diesel will disappear in property taxes and higher overhead/operational costs. In my opinion, it's not a viable replacement.

I'm really surprised they went with non-Tesla for the truck. The Tesla Semi can/has done loaded 500 miles at 65 mph, and then charge 10-70% (350 Miles in 30 mins). The tesla truck goes routinely from the Freemont to San Diego (500 miles) loaded. Every tool has their use & doesn't need to do everything. So, the long-haul trucks will still be diesel.

with all the problems with electric vehicles they are going to loose all the trucks do to the batteries catching fire and the parts are very experience. Freightliner has stopped the electric trucks do to all of the issues. electric isn't as clean as you think and a lot of people are seeing. they cause more pollution do to electricity use coal and other fuels, then the batteries themselves are toxic and how expensive they are to fix and when winter comes they are not going anywhere. so i feel bad for Canada because either customers have to pay a really high price for their stuff to make up on to be able to maintain the trucks or they have to go out of food or stock up on food. electric vehicles have 80% more problems than gasoline and diesel vehicles. most companies stopped their ev production go back to ice or hybrid

The only way this will work is for store deliveries out of the DCs. Other than that it will fail. We've seen the problems that cars have been having and we've already seen EV trucks in Australia going into thermal runaway that will desteoy the truck. These trucks are way more expensive than a diesel. The electrical grid can't handle the demand this will have on an already crappy grid, especially in commiefornia. Not to mention the cold weather issues, I can see drivers quit the first time one of these truck leaves them sitting somewhere freezing their ass off.

They won't be buying ev tractors from Freightliner. The CEO & President of Freightliner announced yesterday that the company WILL be dropping the EV LINE of tractors!!! The EV LINE is NOT a viable stream of revenue. A bad investment ALL around.
