An inside look at the Pioneer Acres fanning mill (winnower) that is used to prepare next years seed crop. This device uses a set of precisely sized screens and a wind box to separate threshed wheat from straw and husks, or chaff, leaving behind only the wheat seed ready for further use, the chaff is simply discarded or run through a second time to separate any missed kernels. These devices have existed in one form or another for millennia. Pioneer Acres Museum, Irricana, Alberta.
