Shouldnt there be a negative at the bottom (sqrt(R^2-(xL-xC)^2))due to the j^2?

I am sorry, I might be a little confused but increasing the impedance actually makes the phase angle bigger and we want to make it smaller right?

On a single branch with no capacitors present, that is correct. But in parallel branches that also contain capacitors, it is not that simple.

@@MichelvanBiezen Thanks for you reply. I understand that but you are finding the total impedance (you are already considering they are in parallel branches) so the value we get in the end is for the total impedance of the circuit which as you said should be greater but that would increase de phase angle... I feel like I might be missing something, I would appreciate if you could correct me if I am wrong once again. Keep up the great work :)

The best thing to do here is to try a few different values for the inductor and then see what happens to the total impedance. (make it bigger and then make it smaller) It is better to get personal experience with it, rather than have someone try to "explain" it.

@@MichelvanBiezen Sure, I guess I will try that. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello, from where do you bring the J ?
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
The j is used to indicated that there is a phase difference between the resistance and the reactance.
