Work smart, not hard... 😀. Recognize that triangle wave is the integral of a square wave which has a trivial Fourier series. It’s also trivial to integrate those terms. Nothing at all wrong with the approach shown here - but this is a good trick to remember.

When you find a(n) ==> where period is (2/T) from Fourier formula, and your integrating between (T/2 and 0) for function f(t), using (y=mx+c) I have found that f(t) is (2A/T)*t ==> Now a(n) becomes (2/T)*(2*A/T)= (4A/T^2)*integral(t)cos(wnt) dt==> where did you get the (8A/T^2) from (for a(n) ?
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
In this example the period is T/2 (we are only integrating the first part of the sawtooth, since the second part requires a different equation. Thus 2/(T/2) = 4/T
@byronperalta85946 жыл бұрын
@3:18 He says that he doubles the amplitude because he integrates over half the period. Could someone provide some more detail to me?
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
It is a standard integration method that takes advantage of the symmetry. Integrate over half the sawtooth and then double the results.

In the second part of the integral from T/2 to T, I don't understand where the 2A came from. You substracted 2A-2A/T
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
That is based on applying the y = mx + b equation from algebra, in order to express both sides of the saw tooth by a linear equation.

What if the wavelenght is smaller than T/2? Would you multiply the integral by 2 or 1?
@MichelvanBiezen2 жыл бұрын
Whenever the function f(t) is not zero, you will have to integrate over that portion.

sir I don't understand where why we had the 2A / T . can you please explain it to me
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
That is derived from the linear equation y = mx + b Where m is the slope and b is the y intercept. In this case the slope = rise / run = A / (T/2) and the y intercept is zero.

Extend each ramp outward in both direction and the extended line will cross over the vertical axis. Then you can fine the equation for the line in the form: y = mx + b
