@Katarinarabbit you need 1000 volts to begin gripping and are unable to let go. 240 is no where near the fatal amount

I'm an electrician. We call aluminum ladders "conductors" and don't use them. Also, the wires on that service drop should be insulated from the pole all the way into the house. Not so in Canada?

notice the ladder hits the line, striking downwards, could easily strip enough insulation to make contact with the wire, especially if his ladder has a sharp edge. having said that, if you're dumb enough to erect a metal ladder less than 1 milimetre from a power line, you probably should just exit
