@@electricalautomation I have heard that there is also a UA client available. Looking at my installation, in C:\TwinCAT\Functions\TF6100-OPC-UA\Win32\Client there is an TcOpcUaClient.exe file. This looks like you can program a client as well as a server (although I hope it's not just 32 bits, as my application is 64 bits). Do you know anything about this?

@@andylawton6137 I think you are talking about the Client test software, "UA SampleClient.exe". Yes I used it, but frankly speaking, I would rather use UAExpert. I remember one time I used it for the connection test unsuccessful but I got it successfully immediately after I used UaExpert.

@@dariusvaitkus965 You do need to install TF6100 in CX5010 and your laptop. Do OPC UA configuration at your laptop and download the configuration to CX5010. CX5010 is the OPC UA Server and it is your download target.

HI - Tried to follow the SCADA 05 example ,but its very different idea - so I got lost.. Installed Client/Server/Gateway/Configurator etc and went back to Com 08a to try again . At 17:18 did not get ADD Target OPC UA server.. showed Edit Server list in that window...

Pls see 14:50 the OPC UA Server is connected. You may need to connect the OPC UA Server at first, then add the device type. Also please review COM08b. OPC UA Beckhoff - OPC UA Server via C6030 Controller and TwinCAT 3 TF6100 kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZnJg4Caa5KYf7s, the operation procedure may be better than this video. I used the procedure to configure the Beckhoff IPC many times without any issues.

Me again, I got up and running the OPC server and can connect to it but I cannot see the variables, I have added the attribute, etc but the variables are not shown in OPC. I have a dedicated controller and the server is running in the development machine. One thing that I noticed is that when I browse for the symbol file (TMC file) in the data access configuration it always shows the files on the local machine, even though I select target and the target is correctly defined as the controller.

Please check if the OPC UA trail license is activated in your dedicated controller. The TwinCAT OPC UA functions need the license activated.

@@totoxahc If you are using Beckhoff Controller, then it is preinstalled OPC package. If you are using your own PC, you need to install the TF6100 in the PC, and the OPC UA software must match with your TwinCAT 3 software revision.

Hello I didn't have this problem before. But probably you could check 1. make sure trail license is not expired. 2. TF6100 OPC UA software is running (right bottom corner icon) 3. turn off windows firewall. 4. try to use the other PC or fresh virtual machine.

Thank you for this video! I have one question: Is the OPC server running in the (simulated) PLC, or on a separate program on your PC. It feels like its running on a separate program on how the connectivity project is set up. Or did I misunderstand this?

The OPC UA Server is an individual component and Beckhoff 'PLC' (in the project, PLC folder) they are running parallel as I understand. In the video, since I didn't have an actual hardware controller, I used my laptop to run the PLC + OPC UA Server. There would be a connection between PLC and OPC UA Server, such as 'Ads port 851' setting, which allows OPC UA Server finds out where is the PLC.

Hello, if you are using a IPC, the configuration procedure is almost the same, the only difference is 06:00 the target is your controller rather than "Local", and as shown 19:25, the URL IP address is your target IPC IP address. Then when you download the TwinCAT and OPC UA configuration, they will be downloaded into the IPC. I just did an IPC OPC UA yesterday, it works. The recorded video will be published in weeks.

Hello, I didn't get this problem. Did you install the TwinCAT at the default directory, did you change it? Is your TwinCAT the latest version 4024.xx? Probably install the new version of TwinCAT and then install OPC UA TF6100 after.

Hello, Can the "Configured UA Servers" windows show up after you click "Add OPC UA Server"? Most likely you have the issue on the configuration at his window, where you need to config the server URL like opc.tcp://192.168.x.x:4840. please let me know if you find something. Also I would have a Beckhoff controller this days and I will config the OPC UA server and record a new video if I have chance to test it.

@@DarkHideMoon Please make sure the OPC UA installation software you download correctly. Also MAKE SURE intal the OPC UA software with "Run As Administrator". Most likely your trouble comes from the software. I just got a Beckhoff controller and did the same configuration procedure, and only 5 mins following the same method, I did the OPC UA server via a Beckhoff controller successfully.

Not mandatory, intall into one PC works fine. using two PCs and installed software separately is used to show a 'more' complex case, demonstrating two PC via network can still communicate.

If you are getting "EXCEPTION | Security was NOT requsted but server does not have any endpoints without security." when adding Targt OPC-UA Server, open "Twincat/Functions/TF6100/Win32/Server/TcUaServerConfig.xml" in some text editor (I recommend VS code) and uncomment commented paragraph containing line "opcfoundation.org/UA/SecurityPolicy#None" (I had this around line 95). You have just allowed endpoint without security. Restart OPC-UA server and try to add target again. Now it should work.
