Good review. I just ordered this bike for my wife because of this review. I went with the small frame due to her height with the step through feature. To be honest, I could have used a step through frame after my heart failure five years ago. Getting my leg over just a medium frame was difficult. I like the integrated battery on the new model because it looks like that would create an even better step through on the bike. I bought the bike because I wanted my wife to ride with me on the trails. She refused to get a bike that was the price that I paid for my e-bike I purchased in 2021. This is a very affordable bike, and I did order a back rack. I am not worried about the fenders because I know she won't go out if there is a wet pavement. By the way, the bicycle shop that I got this through gives lifetime maintenance on all the bikes they sell. So, that was another reason I went with this bike.

A few months back got one for my wife. Smiles for miles. Really fun to draft her on trails and industrial park loops. Two minor things for improvement. 1. No convenient place to put a water bottle cage. She uses one with Velcro straps. It’s ok but something to note. 2. If the lights are on brake lights don’t get brighter. When I’m drafting a regular bike when the rider stops pedaling I know to slow down. But if she stops pedaling or switches off throttle and brakes, there’s no indication for me to hit the brakes. First couple times almost run up her back.

The new upgrade to the Pace 500 is awesome but i do have one major complaint that I haven't seen or heard anyone talk about. We live on the second floor of a nice building. So it's me that had to carry my girlfriends Pace 500 up the stairs. She has the older version and it has a small crossbar above the bottom bracket that works perfectly as a handle to carry it. The newer version, this one, got rid of that handle so it would be much harder to carry up some stairs. I honestly like this new version quite a bit but I wish the battery was slightly larger than the older 556wh one. It's hard to justify upgrading to the new one since she owns the old one. I've upgraded to the color display on her bike. Anyway, Aventon makes some incredible bikes. I would 10/10 recommend this to anyone looking for an e-bike

Great review! As an owner of the OG 500 I'm a little jealous. It's a really good looking bike and I'm loving the upgrades too! It still seems like one of the lighter e-bikes out there while keeping the nimble ride. I love to pedal my bike so the throttle test is no real issue for me. Also I don't think the price point is terrible for this bike. Looks like Aventon just keeps bringing it!

Great review. Sent me to a bike store yesterday to buy one. I do recommend buying local at a bike shop if you can. I went with a friend yesterday and we each bought one-both celeste. It really depends on what you are looking for. Commuter with fenders and racks than go for level. If just a good all around bike pace 500 is a good bike. There are plenty of difference in the two. The level is 10lbs heavier, has a bigger motor and battery. My problem with the level is the no lights included for a commuter bike doesn't make a lot of sense. I personally think they should add fenders and small rack to the soltera to make it a good commuter bike.
@andrewpark72422 жыл бұрын
I agree with you and think the Level is a better bike to me as well but some people would rather save the money cause they never use a rack and don't mind getting wet or only ride when it's sunny for some people this is their upper limit for a bike budget.
@markg39502 жыл бұрын
The suspension is NEEDED on a bike like the Level, because it is a LEAN FORWARD geometry meaning part of your body weight is being held up by your arms and wrists, on the handlebar, absorbing a lot more of the road bumps. The 500 is a fully upright geometry with ZERO weight on your arms and wrists, meaning you are very relaxed, coupled with comfort tires absorbing a lot of the road bumps. Adding a decent suspension seat post to the 500 is not only less costly than a full front suspension, but the ebike will be 10 lbs lighter than the Level. The Level has its purpose for certain riders. The 500 works for pretty much all riders. Comparing the 500 to the Level is comparing apples and oranges. Both can be great depending on the purpose and the preferred tastes.
@srobeck772 жыл бұрын
Here's my response for why I bought the Pace 500 "next gen" over the Level. Just an opinion, my 2 cents. 1.) Obviously the 500 has integrated lights, an upgraded color lcd screen, and is $100 cheaper. 2.) The front suspension on the Level, is literally useless on streets as a commuter bike. For me, this is another mechanical fail point and maintenance item that has to be oiled and taken apart to get clean. The far better alternative for your lower back pains (for both models) is a suspension seat post. (lots of youtubes on why this is most effective shock absorbing item you can get on a commuter bike). 3.) Fenders: very cheap to add on if u really must have them (we're talking like $80 compared with spending $1800 on the bike). I wanted a rear bike rack, so I bought a combo rack + rear fender, (but I dont ride in the rain, so a non-issue anyways). www.aventon.com/collections/bicycle-racks/products/planet-bike-rear-eco-rack 4.) The Level is a bit chunkier and heavier (10lbs I think). 5.) I prefer the more casual & comfortable cruiser style handle bars on the 500. 6.) Id prolly just wait for the Level "next gen" to release if I was really in love with the included fenders and front suspension.

Be very careful in your decision making. The new models have several potential fundamental design flaws. 1) That battery casing has proven over a number of other brands, to lose contact frequently, rattle in the frame, and eventually short out the controller. 2) Level assist 2, when put in Class 3 mode is 17 mph. Means you are jumping from 10 mph to 17 mph. Not safe. 3) Once you pair a phone using their APP, that phone is STUCK to that bike for life, unless you buy a new controller. 4) The rear mounted kickstand is now at a crucial weak point in the frame, and the odds are high that area will eventually get stressed and twisted enough to force the brake caliper out of permanent alignment, thus rendering brakes impossible to adjust. 5) the wiring for the lights is exposed at the rear wheel wheel, like the Soltera and Aventure and likely to get accidentally severed. Flawed design. 6) going to LG cells reduced the range from prior model, despite small increase in watt hours. 7) LG cells have about half to 2/3rds the life as Samsung. 8) the color display is very hard to read in sunlight. Summary: while the bike looks nice, and now has lights, that is about the end of the so called 'improvements.'
@srobeck772 жыл бұрын
I gotta call bs on most of what u said here. Rear kick stand works great. The color display is very visible even in sunlight. LG batteries are always as good as Samsung, both are very top end companies. You can ALWAYS make speed adjustments in the controller. (I havent tried to pair the controller up to a different phone, but that sounds pretty fishy). Please link where u got all this insightful info from or I gotta call a major troll here.
@markg39502 жыл бұрын
@@srobeck77 You have no idea what you are talking about. Ive been in the business for over 10 years, and LG's are always crap. They ALWAYS fail sooner, and they are always a lot less expensive. And the rear kick stand while working fine now, the way its implemented on the aventon frame, is going to result in all kinds of brake service issues and problems. Ive been in the industry longer than you have even known or been aware of th existence of ebikes, obvious by your junior varisty level knowledge, and also longer than Aventon has been in the business, and they simply do not have enough structural strength built in where they mounted the kickstand. The color display is absolutely hard to see in sunlight. Everyone customer says this. So you are full of it. Samsung is top end, and in fact, its decided to phase out of batteries for ebikes, and solely focus on large electric vehicles. Its a massive loss for the ebike industry. LG batteries are how crapfilled brands like Lectric have been able to price so low. Well Lectric is now lying and using grade c chinesium batteries so its a step down from LG, but they are calling what they have LG and Samsung. Blatant lies. Grade C batteries will NOT have nearly the life of Samsung, and LG's every single time, fail in half the time as Samsungs. Thats why they are so much cheaper. Go look at 3rd party websites and you will see it first hand.

I think the Aventon has a nicer finish and components than the Core 5. Plus comes in more sizes. But where Ride1Up likely still has it beat is with a way more programmable controller and power-based PAS design. If this Gen 2 Aventon Pace still has the primitive controller with hard coded speed-based PAS design, then I agree with you fully they have not done much to threaten Ride1Up.
@specialist-in-tech2 жыл бұрын
Dude the Ride1up Core is a POS 3rd party cloned chinesium framed ebike made at a shared hack factory called Hangshou Fanzhou. Its their cheapest made ebike, and made from extruded aluminum. It has no serious integrity, and R1up just slaps their name on it. Ride1up buys it for less than half and marks it up 100%. You can't build any quality for that cheapo absurd price, let alone get anything more than grade c battery cells, so R1up is misleading about whats in it. At least 10 other importers sell the same stupid thing. Aventon OWNS their factory and controls all quality, and their frames are hydroformed al. Much stronger, and far more integrity. Their beautiful welds are only able to be achieved by that, and can't be done with extruded tubes. R1up MAYBe sells 5000 ebikes a year. Aventon is over 80,000 a year, and will double that in 2022. Aventon designs all their own ebikes, does all their own engineering, and was in the bike building and manufacturing before R1up even existed and became an importer. Ride1up a chump little co, started by 3 little 20 to 30 somethings who picked the bikes up off of alibaba. Just like the other 200 or so chump little importers out there who operate at arms length, and have no dealers so no one will repair it for you if there are issues. One 'flounder' has 'perfect' background of a realtor. boy that is some bike background for you eh. thats who is 'coaching' you by phone to fix your POS ebike you got suckered into buying. All hat, no cattle with R1up.

It's not any slower, same exact 500W motor. Some manufacturers rate motors as a "sustained 750W' but its still a 500W motor. Careful of deceptive marketing like that. The Core 5 also has no lights, smaller battery, no color lcd, and has cheaper mechanical brakes (not hydraulic brakes as on the Pace 500). The 1UP LMT'D model for $1700 is more of an apples to apples comparison (but it doesnt have the cool new integrated lights). However, in the future, u cant compare the price of a bottom end model from one company (1UP) to a mid-high model in another (Pace 500) and say its better because it costs less. It's just not accurate at all.

Do you want honesty test with honest real life people, not skinny guys that I’ve never ever had a problem with their weight!

This guy, you doing the review, look like you’re 150 pounds soaking wet, if that! No wonder you can make it up on pedal assist! BS sales hype, totally dishonest ebike review! Nothing annoys me more than someone that is paid the lie and will say anything simply because they’re just being paid to sell a product! This review was done by a salesman that is BSing through his teeth! If you are a bigger human being, do not purchase is the ebike you will be sorry! It’s a bad investment! Spend another thousand dollars and get something have decent! This isn’t it

Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
