I'm looking for a local store that carries it. 🙄

The top 3 things I look for in an e-bike are comfort, weight, and range. I just bought the 500.3 and logged just over 100 miles so far. I feel like that's enough milage to comfortably say that it's a keeper. It's my first e-bike, but I have a feeling it will not be my last. I'm currently looking for somewhere to test drive a mid-drive.

Thanks for the excellent, objective bike testing and performance data. I'm looking at the Aventon Pace 500.3, the Euphree Robin City X+ and the upcoming Aima Santa Monica (rode a prototype and liked it) as my first eBike and will be riding on some steep dirt hills. I'm using your Hellhole times as a guideline for which bike to get. They are all comparable, very good, sub-$2,000 bikes so its coming down mostly to hill climbing performance and braking. Please test the Santa Monica when it comes out in a few months (the Big Sur is its mountain bike cousin). One suggestion: it would be great if you could have a large screen phone with a GPS app attached to the handlebars showing the continuous speeds as you test the bikes. Many of the speedos are not visible in the tests. Keep up the outstanding work!

I really enjoy the way you guys do these reviews. Very informative. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this info. Mine is coming in a few days and you helped me decide which bike to purchase and answered a lot of questions I have. I of course want to understand how to use the shifters and the Assist together, that is a video I would love to see. Explaining how to use the Assist levels with the Shifting....that would be a great tutorial. Thanks again.

Great review, I am sold and ordered 2 large bikes today. Thanks for the important details!

Based upon your review and a test ride at Sport Systems in Albuquerque I bought this bike from them today. They sell for the internet price and no labor charges for set-up, options (only the rear rack for me) installation, Tannus Armour installation, and a free charge of Slime. They also double the manufacturer’s warranty, give free tune-ups for 4 years, and do the build for no charge! Why would I buy anywhere else? As a hill climb test I rode up their loading dock ramp ~ 8% grade in Eco and 6th gear from a dead stop (I forgot to shift down before starting😆). This bike has lots of power, I understand some lighter riders here opt for the Pace 350.3 because even with our steep terrain they don’t need all the power of the 500. Great review!

Your review is pretty much as I have found with my 500.3. Only have had two weeks of ownership and found its a good cruiser on bike paths. We bought the step through and step over (I am tall) We added the fenders and the rear racks and found them useful with the puddles splash and the ability to carry jackets for early morning rides. We looked for the torque sensor when buying this bike and do not regret it.

What fenders did you get? Because in the section where it shows accessories compatible with this bike it shows no options for fenders. So I wouldn’t know what fenders to get.

My girlfriend has the original Pace 500 and she loves it. The frame has a built in handle right above the bottom bracket which makes it easy to carry upstairs. The newer ones ditched the handle

Torque sensor is smooth and true bike like feel you can very the speed in each level, Level 1 from about 6 to 15 mph depending on how you pedal

How does this bike climb the hill in thottle only vs the older model? Does it offer more torque/geared hub motor?
@Tony770jr8 ай бұрын
You should indicate the rider weight when measuring braking distance, range and hill climb as this will affect the numbers you publish. Lighter riders will see different results from heavier riders. Thanks for the video!

Good review and a very nice bike overall, but it's conspicuously missing an easily accessible odometer/trip meter. That might be inconsequential to many riders but as someone that uses an odometer as a simple navigation tool, it's a deal breaker.
@mrc1436 Жыл бұрын
That was an off change you have to press 2 buttons at the same time to access the trip but I believe the Odometer is on the main screen
@jeffmpvd7689 Жыл бұрын
@@mrc1436you can only view the trip distance screen while the bike is stopped. Very odd setup.

You guys always show the actual hill test. You never just voiceover the hill test. Can you please show the hill test? I want to see how it did in throttle and pedal assist up the hill. Especially through the steep sections.

Thank you for this thoughtful and informative review....trying to decide between this or their Abound
@ElectricBikeReport Жыл бұрын
Might just come down to use case at the end of the day. If you want to haul cargo or kids, the Abound is great. If you're mostly looking at a bike just for you, the Pace is a blast and moves better with the lighter weight.

I’m about 6’2” looking my first large frame e-bike. Do you think that range only going to 6’1” would be a problem? Thanks for the vid
@ElectricBikeReport3 ай бұрын
It may feel a little on the small side, but with only one inch of difference, I wouldn't expect it would be a problem. Personally (John here), I like how playful and nimble smaller frames feel when I ride them, but it all comes down to personal preference.

Do you have to use the pedals to ride or can you use just the electric power to move. Can you just hit the throttle and go?

Yep, this bike has a throttle.

Quick question. I am looking to purchase this online through Aventon. There is a special for discount on an extra battery. Do you think there is a reason to have a 2nd battery? I don't plan on 50 mile bike rides. lol
@ElectricBikeReport Жыл бұрын
A second battery is very nice if it's in your budget. 1. If you plan to ride a lot and you can take it with you, it's nice knowing you don't have to economize the battery as much by having a spare. A quick pit stop to swap out he batteries and you're back in business if the first one ran low on you 2. You'll have to wait several hours for a battery to recharge. It's usually not a huge deal if you remember to charge it the day before when you want to go ride it, but again, it's nice having a ready-to-go alternative option if you did forget and then you aren't being held up. If you do end up buying one please click our link in the description before you purchase! It supports our team at no extra cost to you :)

does this bike take off on you when you start pedaling? my wife found that in a rental last year and gave her a problem. she is looking for a bike that does not jolt you back when starting off, any help would be appreciated
@chow-chihuang49034 ай бұрын
That jolt of power when starting out is typical of a bike using a cadence sensor and a speed-targeting PAS style (each level sets a speed target, using an arbitrary power curve to achieve it - the greater the difference between target and current speed, the more power is delivered). A cadence sensor that uses a current/power management style delivers a set current/power for each level. It’s easier to manage than the speed style. A torque sensor delivers power in proportion to the effort you exert through the pedals. It’s the easiest for managing power delivery, and thus for controlling the bike, and for matching speed with another rider. Each PAS level sets the ratio, up to the maximum the bike can deliver. For instance, the lowest level might match 20% of your effort, whereas the highest level might match 100-350% of your effort, up to the max the motor and controller can deliver. The downside is you have to exert more effort while climbing hills or maintaining higher speeds compared to cadence sensor bikes. That’s why I prefer models that use both a torque sensor and offer a throttle. You can use the throttle to ask for max effort from the bike and stack yours on top.
