What you said at the end regarding being an Epic Mickey fan back when it first came out was the most relatable thing I heard for a while on KZbin. Whenever I talked about the game or about Oswald to others, nobody knew what I was talking about; I met your channel thanks to the Epic Mickey Files, those videos were just what I needed back then, your channel was the only place where I could see someone else sharing his love towards this game. Epic Mickey is also a personal favorite Wii game, despite playing it 7 years late, but honestly get why it is a masterpiece. Rebrushed reminded me of the magic the original brought and multiplied it, this the best Disney remake and my favorite game to play on any console.

This was indeed my most anticipated game of the year and it delivered. It's small, it's niche, and now I can play it whenever I want on my PC. It was more than game memories that flooded in playing it but all the memories from a particular theme park that I used to go to a lot when I was younger. I know this may sound like a nitpick compared to all the great and positive aspects of the remake, but it really bothered me that the inside of characters mouths are white! Made them feel like some kind rubber toys. The original had their mouths colored or black. Also I was waiting for your review on this specific game! I remember your EMF videos back in the day. I’m so happy that Disney brought back epic Mickey! It’s such a cool concept! I even used this game for one of my last college projects: we had to take an existing IP and make concept art for either a sequel or a prequel. I choose Epic Mickey because that game has so much lore and potential. Epic Mickey also sparked my love for the gremlins. I hope they make a comeback! I also agree that the remaster should have had voice acting. Thank you for reviewing the remaster! Out of all the videos of 2024, this one is the most anticipated of them all. Now, I discovered you, of course, through The Epic Mickey Files because I, too, am a massive Epic Mickey admirer as it, later on, gave me a new perspective when it comes to retired, obscure and scrapped Disney creations from animated films, television series, theme parks and even video games, especially on Wish because it, admittedly, has interesting ideas and instead of wallowing in woes like those people, I instead imagined these unused characterisation and character designs in Wasteland. 11:21 - Well, there were fandubs out there of the cutscenes, especially by Adam Petersen. I highly recommend to watch these. Also, by the time Mufasa: The Lion King and the Snow White remake comes out, play Epic Mickey Rebrushed.

This is a really neat review! I don’t really have much else to add so I’ll just mention that when it came to criticisms of the original, it’s clear the devs listened when making the remake. You mentioned the camera and the run option but something else that was done that just made me instantly think of you of was Moody’s cousin having a different NPC design since the original had it just two of the exact same NPC and animation so for the remake to address this critique you made in your video and actually do a change to that was really neat to see, iirc the devs have taken a look at the Epic Mickey wiki at some point when making the remake so it makes me wonder if they also saw your Epic Mickey Files videos as well…

One the biggest improvements to me is the instant respawn. I never actually beat the game on the Wii as a kid because when you died you had to sit through a whole loading screen and then redo whatever you were doing before you died. As a kid, any Beetleworxs besides the Hoppers were scarier than any of the creepy imagery the game could ever have and kept me from beating the Mad Doctor. Also, from experience, the load times on Switch were actually quicker on the unpatched version.

I was about as hyped about the game as you back in the 2010s and I got it for Christmas the year it came. While I only played through it once, I still had good memories with it. I remember that I had the Direct you mentioned going on live while I was doing some chores, but when Mickey came on the screen, I stopped what I was doing and sat down to watch it and I even made a comment on the live feed saying "I bet Animat would love this". I don't think I'll be getting the remake soon because of my other games and responsibilities, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Also, that post-credit scene got me intrigued.

as a kid, I was somewhat fascinated with epic Mickey and always wanted to play the game. But I never got a Wii to play it on, and eventually I just forgot about it. But when I saw that Nintendo direct I immediately wanted to get it so I can finally play it. I immediately pre-ordered it in GameStop, and waited months for the game to release. Now I finally got it, I have to say it's definitely worth $60.

I have to admit from the walkthroughs I’ve seen on KZbin and from your AniMat Plays, this game definitely is not only a great remake, but this one is an improvement over THQNordic’s and Purple Lamp’s previous remake with SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. One of my personal issues with that remake from the walkthrough I’ve seen is that it’s basically just the same game but with higher-quality graphics. I was disappointed they didn’t include some new elements to make it feel more like an update like the scrapped Patrick’s Dream level, Squidward Robot boss fight and boss fight with the SpongeBob robot’s second form. This remake on the other hand while still being the same game actually adds new elements and improves over some elements from the original game that were irksome to some players. THIS is what a video game remake SHOULD be.

How long I waited for this review, I got into your Epic Mickey Files videos a during 2018 or 2019, Epic Mickey was one of the games I played a lot on the Wii and with your videos it made me love the games even more, when the rebrushed got announced I was hype to the roof, at D23 during summer I met the creator of the games Warren Spector and talked with him in 4 minutes how much the game mean to me and I thank him so much for the games and during that week I played at the demo of the game at the epic mickey rebrushed booth, when rebrushed was released I played it a lot, humming the music from the original game, knowing the characters unlike the first times I played the game and mostly, play it in a modern console

I remember watching a playthrough of the original a long time ago. Epic Mickey may've not been the darkest product that modern Disney made and several conceots were neutered to make the game family friendly, but I still hold Epic Mickey up as one of the best gaming representation of the mouse that started it all, with engaging gameplay, charming writing, and timeless visuals that mesh macabre with playfulness.

I remember finding your channel from the epic mickey files when I was 15-16 in 2012. I played epic mickey 1 and 2 a lot during that time and the games mean so much to me. When I first saw the trailer for the remake back in February, I was excited! I know it's not a perfect remake but the game is gorgeous and it brought back a lot of memories for me trying to remember how to do certain quests.

Been looking forward to this review for a long time! I agree with everything you said and I absolutely loved this remake as well! There were a few things at launch especially that needed addressing, but I'm grateful that THQ Nordic has their Discord server open to receiving the necessary feedback to fix those things. My one nitpick that remains as of this writing, is that Gus never tells you that you can skip the projectors, and while I know many people eventually figured it out, I don't like that you kind of have to stumble across it by accident. With the sprint and the photo mode, Gus has new dialog to let you know about those features, but with the projectors, the player probably won't think he is a skip option for them since he is just the tutorial character 9 times out of 10. I went ahead and mentioned this in their Bug Reports, so hopefully it'll get addressed soon, but other than that, I love this remake and hope it'll get sequel (and maybe the Alice in Wonderland level can be sold as a DLC; I would love that)!

this one was honestly a surprise to see, I thought the only way we'll see a Epic Mickey game would be from Public Domain, alas, I agree with the Review, at best, the Spin now gives an additional aerial boost to platforming, and not sure if it can be done on Consoles, but if your worried about decisions, on PC, obviously, make a save at the start of an area, quit, and then you can backup that Save Data so you don't have to worry about ruining your Run and having to repeat things, otherwise, yeah, it's great to see it again
