If Mat is reviewing classic video games, I hope he one day decides to review some Muppets video games. Especially considering that he’s a huge fan of the Muppets, I’m sure he’d get a kick out of playing their games. Like Muppet Race Mania, Muppets Party Cruise, and ESPECIALLY Muppet Monster Adventure!

Fun fact: At the end of the game, when you watch the final clip from the movie, they play the John Williams’ closing music score from the movie Far and Away. It’s also the same ending music piece used in Treasure Planet’s teaser trailer

The reason for this is because it was the temp music for the ending that Pixar used in the workprints of the film before Randy Newman recorded the final score for the ending.

@@JordanS-ww4eu the trailer uses music pieces from the movie Far and Away. Bits from Far and Away’s music piece “The Land Race” are done in the beginning and middle of Treasure Planet teaser trailer. As for Far and Away’s closing music piece that’s used at the end of Treasure Planet’s teaser trailer, it’s called “Joseph and Shannon”

This was one of 3 games I had when I first got my PlayStation for Christmas. I’m aware of the flaws but it still has a special place in my heart.

The first place I encountered this game in person was in the El Capitan lobby right after seeing it. The arrangement of demo stations was even themed to the movie w/ big green leaves and all that.

The Bug's Life game was also ported to the PC as well. Toy Story 2 also had a game as well that was made by the same companies & was released on the PS1, N64, PC, Mac & Dreamcast. Another KZbinr named Level reDesign has been working on a remake of the Toy Story 2 game for modern PC's with updated graphics.

Should’ve played Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue. That’s a great video game movie-tie-in that’s basically a much more fun plat-former and scavenger hunt game than this. Basically, it’s the same video game as A Bug’s Life, but executed much better. It sucks that Pixar’s first 3D platform game had to be THIS.

Why does it suck? I've enjoyed both of these games multiple times over the last 25 years. Alongside BLoSC and Tarzan. Shame the game side of Disney went away after TS3.

I remember playing this game on my computer when I was little, but I never got past the second level I believe. I eventually bought it years later on the Playstation Store on my PS3, but I believe I quickly lost interest in it. After hearing Mat's thoughts on it, I guess the fact that I wasn't as skilled of a player in those times as I am now is not the only reason why I never got far. Anyway, I hope he one day reviews the video game, World's End Club. It ain't perfect, but I feel like it's underrated.

10:00 It would've made more sense to witness Flik developing an antagonistic side in the feature other than being a typical hero, consider how he's frowned upon by his own colony because he doesn't share their ideals in terms of working for the grasshoppers and salvage what little resource they have to cover. If it weren't for princess dot being the only angel to uplift his spirits, Flik would've taken a much darker path that could even put Frollo from Hunchback into shame. 😅

I had this game too, but I usually got frustrated with it because I could never get passed the canyon level. I actually think the best parts of the game are the training mode and the Traveler's Tales logo!

I remember I played it long time ago! And yes! It was frustrated! Especially the Game Over FMV, I makes me feel bad inside. Although I like the music the envioments and that little silly death with Flik, when he got captured by the bird. He's just fainted. XD So yeah! Good old times. And great review. 👍

This is mostly about the same quality as the N64. But I will say one positive thing about the game; at least games like Superman 64 and Bubsy 3D make this look like a masterpiece. Those are both 0/10. 5/10 seems about right, but the Toy Story 2 video game was slightly better, keyword being slightly.

What prevents me from ever completing this is that annoying mechanic where the game doesn’t replenish your lives after you run out. So if you only have one life left when entering a level, you can’t rely on checkpoints if you die.

29:25 Actually, that's the cross button. The PlayStation uses shapes for their buttons and the "X" button is a cross.

I played the N64 version of the game and I do agree with how the camera is messed up and there really should be a random drop on extra lives, he should review Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue

I remember still owning Disney dinosaur the game and monster inc scare team for ps1. I don’t know if they are still in my case of games. Bugs life reminds me of a PC game called: bugdom, by the graphics. 😊 wonderful video!

Sounds frustrating to go through this kind of gameplay. I’ve been through a frustrating gameplay before. It was with Despicable Me the game. The gameplay was a nightmare! That’s especially the case when you keep getting the death mechanic!

It’s basically the A Bug’s Life video game, but executed much better. I guess the developers at Traveler’s Tales learned from the flaws of A Bug’s Life and took their time to improve on that game’s plat-forming and side quests.

I suggust doing a video game review on Wall-E or Cars they're games based on Pixar's most well known movies and are worth playing. A bug's life game is a better tie in movie game than most games based on films.

The most frustrating thing in this game is the Molt boss. Even though Molt is easy to defeat. But the hardest thing is the ants just keep giving Flik red berries! Why can't the ants just watch Flik instead of helping him get killed by throwing red berries at him? Flik can do this by himself! Stupid ants! They should learn the berries from Mr. Soil from the training level.

I missed when video games 🎮 were advertised and promote for an animated film. I had great times playing the Finding Nemo and the Incredibles on Game Boy Advance in my childhood. Why did this trend stop? Is it the budget that makes the games or video game companies are invested on big franchises like Mario and Pokémon than focusing animated films? 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️

I have a copy of this game for N64. And honestly, it's aged horribly like the original movie, especially since it forces you to use that damn controller pack to save the game data.
