That's the trouble with changing old lights that are years old and trying to get something else to fit .👍👍 Nice bit of caravan site work .. Don't forget to mark the grey core blue . Make safe the floating black core ... I used to fit brass lock nuts to the swa glands to outside areas 👍👍👍👍

Well done you on the marathon effort.

Stayed on a campsite where all of the EHU cabling was Newley done but in YY cable, including coming out of the ground ( so presumably under ground Ito) and up to units with no additional UV protection!

The new hook ups do seem to be all interlocked, costing the caravan park owners more money. It would be interesting to know why this regulation has changed. The park I do work at, has a small stock of existing non interlocked so I’ll be replacing like for like until they run out. As with all changes to the regs, you have to apply a bit of common sense and you can’t simply just trash everything that was fine yesterday and not today. You could put a label on it to warn the consumer, but as long as you can prove disconnection I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

Very sensible answer this. They have created a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. A simple isolate breaker before removing lead. 🤷🏻♂️

Hope you have some good running socks. If they're not knee high will be disappointed.

Just for you

Static caravan and touring hook up units should have interlock sockets on them as per Section 708 of BS7671 18th edition. You have fitted a 17th edition version. Best go back to this job and change it so it complies.

@@Cjrelectrical unfortunately you still need to have an interlocking device built into the socket outlet or connected to the auxiliary contacts of the OCPD/RCD e.g an Eaton Z-Kam. Just for future ref.
@Cjrelectrical8 ай бұрын
Have you looked at 6.1.5
@hbarnes24898 ай бұрын
Must also have interlocking plug not just comply with 6.1.5 has to do both. Efix have a fantastic cpd on this. And lewden make a Fantastic product which they show off in the cpd training video. Hope this helps.

That new hook-up needs to have interlocked socket outlets as per the 18th edition. Were those RCBOs Type A and Double Pole?
@Cjrelectrical8 ай бұрын
Yeah double pole and type A no interlock. Maybe they use clause as the rcbo can be used as a toggle switch?
@Josh__Stevens8 ай бұрын
@@Cjrelectrical the socket outlet can only be live with a plug inserted. Normal way is to have a rotary interlocked isolator incorporated into socket outlet (like Rolec do) or have a electronic interlock where there’s a micro switch that only lets you turn the RCBO on when a plug is inserted (caravan park electrical hook-ups achieve this using Eaton shunt trips, switched by a micro switch on socket outlet body, mechanically connected to the RCBO). Hope that helps, i would recommend you replace the unit you fitted in order to comply. That TLC hook-up looks pretty shit if I’m honest, probably some backstock!
@Cjrelectrical8 ай бұрын
Over 40 on the site the client will not replace them. Bit like having an old plastic consumer unit more than likely a C3
@DS1-1a8 ай бұрын
@@Josh__Stevens yes exactly, the Eaton Z-Kam unit connected to the aux contacts of the RCBO.
@Josh__Stevens8 ай бұрын
@@Cjrelectrical it's not the fact of replacing them all. All new work needs to comply with the current regulations, so if you've changed the hook-up it needs to comply.

Is there a safe way to run electric to an outbuilding on top of a border (behind shrubs)? Or does it have to be buried?

Hallo, 5:09 , in electric plastic box why do you connect earth wire to the box ? Is it plastic wright?
@Cjrelectrical8 ай бұрын
It’s the TT earth spike you can’t see it on the underside of the box.
@maximuspareo8 ай бұрын
I understand from begining that it is TT , but I do not understand why do you connect earth to the plastic box? Usualy we do this when we use a metal box... and even the door we connect separately , if metal box..
@dazzafat8 ай бұрын
He's not earthing the Box he's using a banjo connected to the Box to earth the armouring of the swa and the TT
@maximuspareo8 ай бұрын
And by the way if it is tt , where is rcbo or rccb?
@Cjrelectrical8 ай бұрын
The outlet has its own rcbo and the circuit is adequately protected.
@maximuspareo8 ай бұрын
So the connection of earth conductor is useless in the box.
@Cjrelectrical8 ай бұрын
Connect the earth of the 16amp outlet to the TT earth rod. Don’t use the Pme connection.

I already gave the consequences for the loser on your other video..but for the challenge, perhaps a timed test for changing out 2 light fittings each, (will need a job with four or more identical fittings of course) fastest wins, loser....well you know what happens, lol.

I pity James! I would certainly not be happy, being apprenticed to you. Although you may be highly skilled, you come across as unprofessional and condescending. I'm at the point of unsubscribing from your channel.
