The DC-3 was the first and foremost of a robust aircraft that longevity was built in and like a Swiss army knife could be adapted to many roles performing them perfectly. #2 I think would be the C-130. Also rugged and highly adaptable with longevity far into the future.

As a pilot they have their pros and cons....Proven in ww2 and served Bush pilot's well for decades...They were tough and very reliable
