New sub and after suffering a raft of jarg Chinese channels it's a relief to have landed here, impressive catalogue and please keep them coming., 🇬🇧 🙏 🇺🇸
I spent 4 tears at Dover Afb . I was part of the rapid deployment force. I loaded anything that fit in those big boys. I lived on the approch end of one of the runways. When they did touch n goes the lights came right in our living room window. I miss those days

I grew up and live just across the maryland line west of dover. I used to love when they flew over especially with the older engines. They had a distinct sound almost like an electric guitar or something. The newer ones are much quieter and boring lol

When it came into service, the 82d Airborne Division conducted load out exercises. I was the S-3 Air (Air operations officer) for the 4/68 Armor and we spent 3 days on Green Ramp, Pope Air Force configuring loads. At the end, we actually flew the loads to verify data. In the process I got 2 jumps out of the C-5!

My husband and I are private suppliers, in Atlanta, for the DOD proudly making chatter blocks for the C-5 for the past 25 years. Our orders are increasingly getting larger and more frequent. Things are heating up in Israel. Please, may this not escalate into something huge. We don't need to lose any more men.

I grew up in Sunnyvale in the landing/takeoff line of Moffett Field (aka Ellison Onizuka AFB) from the 1970s - 1990s, and remember fondly every time a C5 would come over the coast for a landing - the sound was unmistakable. It would SHAKE EVERYTHING. Was a rush experiencing.

I had the privilege of working in the ISO DOCKS at Dover AFB in 1979-80 doing inspections on that aircraft you really don’t have any idea how big it is until your standing on top of the T Tail and looking forward towards the cockpit and your head is seven stories above the ground!

The footage of the B52 test mule is more interesting than many realise. That engine being tested was also fitted to the 747-100/200 and the A300 The one on the B52 mule was able to keep the aircraft in the air _all by itself_ if it wasn't for the extreme yaw induced by one engine being more than the rudder could cope witrh It looks so big on a B52 wing and so small attached to a 747-100 or 200 or "normal" on a A300 (remember, newer 747 engines are MUCH bigger)

Once a few years back, an engine cowling fell off a C5 that was based at Altus AFB Oklahoma. They landed it at the Lawton, OK airport awaiting parts. That airplane dwarfed the entire airport terminal 😂 It was awesome.

I remember that. I was a C-5 Com/Nav specialist stationed at Altus in the early 90's, but was on vacation when it happened. When I was returning I had a window seat and as we were flying into Lawton I could see the C-5 on the tarmac. Heard all about it when I got to work the next day.

The first time I ever saw one of these things, I was working near Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York which meant nothing to me because I barely knew anything and thought I knew everything. So I leave work and I'm heading home and this monster comes in for a combat landing on the short runway. (It was right around 9/11) I thought I was going to die. This thing was basically doing a nose dive straight into route 17K and because of the insane size, I thought it was like 50' off the ground. Hindsight, now that I know how big they are, it was probably 300' at least, but you can't comprehend that until you've seen how big these monsters are. They make commercial airplanes look tiny.

@scarecrow108productions7 Жыл бұрын
That's because it was coated with CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) over the current USAF Gray scheme colors. This is to prevent environmental effects from damaging the paintjob on the aircraft.

I worked on the C131 and C5B programs back in 1986 in Marietta, Georgia at Dobbins Air Force Base and I must say it was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had in my working life. I enjoyed each and every day because there was something different to work on each day not the repetitive Job that a lot of people have. I wish I was still working there now just to see the innovations to that big boy now. When Ronald Reagan downsized the military It was the biggest mistake the US has ever made. To this day, we are still trying to recover from that decision. I Hope to be alive to see the next huge aircraft that the military will need once they decommission the C5M.

What is depressing about humans helping other humans in need? US Air Force cargo planes, which includes the C-5, do humanitarian aid and disaster relief missions almost every day. When a large disaster happens somewhere in the world, quite often a heavy airlifter crew is called upon to fly. IMO there is nothing depressing about that.

Yes man's engineering is never-ending but what all nations seem to forget is as they spend more and more money on these gems which eventually end up being aged and obsolete, how do these investments give back any returns to the true investors,,,the citizens who pay taxes and are still forced to balance their budgets and raise their families and try to keep their children protected enough for them to grow up without all the stumbling blocks on their paths through their early lives ? The drugs, gangs, taxes are all obstacles ripping their truly possible chances of experiencing the American Dream . Maybe that's all it is ,,,just a dream. And a falsehood. And if a falsehood, then it's all a lie. Yes we have the ability to create things but as with everything man creates ,the questions will be for what purpose? And for who's direct benefit? The taxpayers are still the economic slaves for the elites. And tha arrogant elites are now attempting to eliminate all those who disagree with their plans. But that's a totally different topic but it shows how we are all connected in the circle of society.

Most of humanity uses the metric system, including many U.S. industries. Even Britain, who gave the U.S. the imperial system is slowly moving toward the metric system. If you think about it, it mostly comes from Roman Empire times, and Italians use the metric system as well.

That would be silly. They invested a lot of money updating the airplane to improve its performance and reliability, and it has a lot of airframe life remaining. It is needed to carry outsized cargo that will not fit in a C-17. I guess you want USAF to hire a Volga-Dnepr Airlines AN-124 when they need to airlift something really large.
