I never liked the kick option to make it move till one day with my own personal scooter… I pressed on the throttle by mistake and my heavy scooter went flying in the air and almost hit a car next to mine which could have caused me thousands of dollars in repairs for my neighbor. I agree having with you Paul : the option to get rid of it or to keep it is a good idea

Great point. This is especially true on big scooters. We have a rule to keep them shut off around people and if we're in the hallways of the building where we film. Once I went full throttle into the front door of the building. Nothing really damaged, but would have been bad if it was a person and not a building. -Paul

I don't currently own a folding electric scooter, but I am impressed with the quality and parts availability of the Segway products. This one looks pretty interesting as it has a lot of features for the money. A nice improvement would be to have a scooter with an LFP battery which should offer better fire protection and fast charging. For instance, I have a Jackery power station that uses standard lithium batteries which takes several hours to charge. I recently purchased a second EcoFlow power station that uses LFP batteries and can fully charge from 0 to 100 % in just one hour using a charge rate of over 600 watts when plugged into a household outlet. My vehicle has a 180 watt 12 v outlet, but the 12 v charge port on the EcoFlow is limited to 100 watt input. I use a pure sine wave inverter to allow me to convert 12 v to 120 v , and plug into this with my 120 v EcoFlow adapter which boosts my charging rate to 150 watts without blowing a fuse. I would happily purchase a good quality LFP based scooter which would charge quickly. It would be a lt of fun to take along on camping trips. Thank you for the excellent review.

*_I'm on my 2nd Segway Ninebot Max G30 and I love everything about it. I know I'm in good hands with the brand. Love the self-healing tires which I believe should be standard on all electric scooters. I'd rather have this than a super scooter, for real. I've literally washed my scooter with water already (no soap). And of course, the long range. Though I see this as my "retirement" scooter, I would still love to upgrade to it's logical successor, the Max G2. I can see a number of similarities between my Max G30 and this E2 Pro which is a very good thing. How about a comparison between the E2 Pro and F2 Pro? In the mobile app, isn't there a "0" option to have zero kickstart activated? I remember that in my previous Max G30 post software update. Thanks for sharing this video, guys. Another great and very informative content. Looking forward to the next. RS always._*

Thanks so much for letting us know about your experience so far! I didn’t include the F2 Pro in this one because it’s so much more expensive and I wanted to compare it to scooters which were similarly priced, but it would be an interesting stand-alone comparison to do E2 pro bs F2 Pro. -Paul

Outstanding review as always, Paul! I may have missed the weight and portability section however, may have to rewind and see if that was there or not. Thanks for keeping Segway honest about the tires since it doesn't really seem like they were honest about it. Maybe it was supposed to have sealing tires but didn't? They advertise this feature on their website as both "puncture-proof" and "leak-proof" Yikes! Segway has some explaining to do on that one. The quality of this scooter seems to be well above average for the price point but the performance with regards to speed is a bit brow raising. The Turboant M10 Pro just jumped to mind which is still available for $379 with discount code. It goes 19mph and has 18.2mi range at that higher speed. Yes, there are differences in the level of refinement and tire size, with the M10 pro focused more on portability but the E2 Pro seems like a fairly sophisticated commuter to be stuck with a 15.5mph top end. I think the marketing team missed the mark in this instance. Of course the Hover 1 Journey Max was as low as $394 a couple of times last year, a scooter that crushes the E2 Pro in literally every performance metric from speed, acceleration, range, climbing and braking... albeit once again with less refinement and technology.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide2 ай бұрын
I don't think I addressed it specifically in this one, I just showed what it's like to haul upstairs. The tested weight is 41.8lbs, which is surprisingly a little higher than the tested weight of F2 PRO despite the E2 Pro having a smaller battery. The spec and build on the E2 Pro are very Segway. Not as much range and performance as TurboAnt or Hover-1, but it's got that indestructible, over-engineered feel that the others don't have. I'm still scratching my head about the tires. I'm intrigued by the blue layer shown in the cutaway. It makes me want to inflate the rear tire (which I didn't destroy yet) and set it next to a "regular" scooter with roughly the same size tires and see if the Segway loses significantly less tire pressure than the scooter next to it. If so, that's a real benefit (judging by how many scooters I see rolling around on low tire pressure). But the leak-proof part is a mystery. Maybe I should look inside the rear tire, since it's a different part number. Taking tires off of the rims and putting them back on isn't my favorite thing to do, but I'm almost always glad I did afterwards. -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I thought I replied to your thoughtful comments here two weeks ago. I'm guessing that I typed it, hit send and for what ever reason the reply didn't post. Thanks the weight and wow, that's not bad at all... even if it is heavier than the F2 Pro. Anytime you say that a scooter is built well, I need not research further because I know how picky you when it comes to structural integrity and sound engineering. Still, I wish that these companies wouldn't overly limit their potential buyer base by electronically limiting the top speed to such a low level. For me, this could probably fit a roll as "mailbox runner" or "trunk scooter" if it hit 20mph. Normally there's a cost vs. features & performance compromise but in this case it's a self imposed downgrade with little logical foundation. To the same idea, lithium cells are relatively inexpensive in these quantities. I once ran a cost analysis around what it would have taken for Apollo to have added 10 cells to the Go, taking it from a 10Series 3Parallel, 540Wh battery to a 10Series 4Parallel, 720Wh battery. It was 1.6lbs and about $42 cost, assuming they're getting those EVE's for about $4.20 each. In any case, that's a 33% increase. For a tiny bit more money they might open up their sales gates to another 12-14% of potential scooter buyers while only excluding 1-2% due to that additional cost. I think Segway, Apollo and others have misjudged how much shoppers value scooters that provide more roll flexibility, less range anxiety and less frequent charging, at least in the segment of commuter scooters. We have a lot of fantastic, large battery choices in the sport scooter segment. It would be great if ESG was able to do a 3 month review of the E2 Pro and report what you find out about the tires. Thanks again for everything you do, Paul! -Paul :)

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
It's got a water resistance rating of IPX4, which is basically the lowest rating other than not having a rating at all. That said, I trust Segway. When they rate something, it means they really rated it. It's important to keep in mind that scooter companies don't cover water damage under warranty, so you're really riding at your own risk in the rain. That said, if I was at work and it started raining (light to medium rain), I'd still ride an E2 Pro home. Then just dry it off and put it somewhere that it can completely dry before the next time you ride it. (don't leave it on the porch where it would get more rain on it all night, or fail to dry off because it's cold and wet out). When I worked in the scooter rental business, we ran Segway Ninebot ES4's rain or shine. We had very few water related failures. -Paul

It’s to loosen the front axle and see if the width of the forks matches the width of the axle when it’s free. On mine, adding an extra washer to the axle inside of the fork leg improved the suspension because mine was pinched inward a bit at the bottom, so the suspension on one side wasn’t parallel to the other side. Shimming it helped it move more smoothly. They may have improved this on the new ones already. -Paul

The suspension is nice on the KQi 100P, but I like the Segway app better and the swag lights are fire. It also depends on the price, of course. $450 seems way too high considering the number of missing/cut features the F2 Pro has ($600 currently), and they're basically the same weight. No self-sealing tires, no zero start, no suspension, no 20 mph, lower ipx, etc. The drum brakes are nice, but that seems to be the only thing it has over the F2 Pro. There should be a spot for something between the E2/Plus and the F2 Pro at that $450 price range between the two, but I don't feel this is it. Just feels like a minor upgrade over the E2 Plus.

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide2 ай бұрын
I'm torn. I hate flats, but the ride quality and lack of traction from semi-solid tires drives me nuts. In this case, tubeless tires and Armordilloz is very close to having semi-solid tires in terms of reliability. -Paul

I’m pretty sure it’s not coming; at least not from where we thought we would get it. I asked the distributor when I ran into him recently and he seemed to have lost track of the fact that he was even pursuing carrying that brand. :-( It’s not very widely distributed in the US. It reminds me of the Bronco. We came close so many times to getting one, but never did. -Paul

The S2 does some things very well, that's why we featured it in our Cheap scooters content for years. It's definitely got the speed, but at the cost of ride quality and a less current design. I feel like it's due for an update soon. I'm curious what will replace it. -Paul

Not all are scooters this size are set at this speed, though it’s true 15.5 is a very common speed because it’s 25kmph and that’s the legal limit in many places. -Paul

So I don't know if it's the case in other countries, but at least here in Utah where I live, 15 MPH is the max speed for a vehicle like that that doesn't require registration/safety features/insurance. I assume other states in the USA have similar laws, and they are catering to them.

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide 25km, Do you know how to unlock the speed?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide17 күн бұрын
I don’t. In the past, I know people were using the xiaoflasher app to unlock other Ninebot by tricking the scooter into thinking it had a North American-market serial number. I don’t know if that can be done here. I do know that the unit I tested was a European unit which was converted to US spec in order for us to do the review, but I don’t know if it’s possible for anyone outside of Segway to do it without bricking the scooter. -Paul

Yeah, it was surprising not to see it as an option in the app. When the NIU scooters first came out they were kick-to-start only, but they added it later via the app. Maybe Segway Ninebot will take that approach here too, or maybe they're keeping that feature for the more expensive models. -Paul

I feel like it's an equal deal to the KQi2 Pro. We got better hill climbing and range from the E2 Pro than the KQi2 Pro. Hiboy will always have more on the specs, but then you own a Hiboy and the build quality is about half as good. The Journey Max is a hoot though. For the price it's hill climbing ability is ridiculously good, but again, build quality not on the same level as the NIU or the Segway Ninebot. -Paul
