Man I really enjoying watching your electric kit-car coming along. What fun would it be if everything, everytime goes according to plan? The feeling when it´s all done, will be worth it I believe. Thank you for sharing your videos. Thumbs up from Sweden!

Where you get stress cracks in fibreglass , besides filling them you should reinforce underneath 🙂

Glad to see the hinges are providing the range of motion you need. If I may suggest two more areas of concern; if you haven't considered it yet, you may want to rebuild the rain channel (that you cut out) lower with a separate drain hose to protect your electronics below that point, and second, keep an eye on the attachment points where the hinges attach to the deck lid, if the factory didn't provide any reinforcement in the lid at that point you may see the fiberglass begin to fatigue over time. One solution might be to fabricate a steel perimeter frame that connects both sides and the latch mechanism. This will also ensure that everything remains properly aligned. Best of luck! Did I miss the part where you cut off the pointy end of the lid?

It is amazing that one of the hardest things about building an electric car is getting the rear hatch/trunk to open and close properly. I had the same problem. I hate hinges!

Way to go! A robust solution to deck lid stability issue, and literally cut your losses with that pesky triangle section between the roll hoops. It really doesn’t look like you Lisa anything!

It is nice to see the trunk gutter, trim and hinge issues solidly resolved. The black undercoating really cleaned up the inner body appearance. Of course these will be largely unnoticed by the casual viewer because they blend into the design, but they add to the overall finished look and feel of the car.

End result looking good as always, you're becoming quite the master for fiberglass work. I'd probably rather search or build a four-link type hinge that comer rather straight up before it starts to rotate.

Great progress as always! The Mazda hinges worked well. Quite like the black rubber coating on the inside. I have a Tvr and fibreglassed my roof for some work, in the corners I have vibration cracks and did the same as yourself, ground out and filled.. but also added steel bars underneath for extra support. Unsure if you might need the same as potentially caused from removing the body where as mine was from road use, but an idea perhaps for future. As always, well done.

I was a little bummed when you got the hinges on and the nose/point of the hood still caught, but squaring it off looks like its working. The hinges do seem to help with stability too. As suggested a frame connecting the hinge mount points and latch point might help too. Cant wait to see it registered and driving legally.

I didn't see where you decided to cut off the front of the trunk lid. I thought that you had it all worked out and were just going to rebuild the rain channel to avoid the trunk tip. Next thing we see is that you're filling up the the triangle in the body. Why did you decide to "square-off" the trunk lid?
