i love this brush and the app and dont mind that there is no percentage on the brush. but yes, the app should have a percentage indicator for battery. my fitbit app at very least tells me when the bracelet is low

I recently purchased this toothbrush. I absolutely adore it! The brush features are outstanding for most users and the choice of different brush heads from current and past oral-b brush models made this brush the one to purchase for me! A bit more variety than the Philips Sonicare brushes. All brush heads work in their own way to remove plaque, bacteria, and food particles from teeth, gums, tongue, roof of mouth, cheeks, and to freshen breath.

To change this, press and hold the mode button (downward arrow below on/off button) for 2 seconds. Toggle between timer selection by pressing the on/off button. Confirm selection by pressing the mode button. 2 LED’s illuminated indicate «2-Minute» timer (without 30 second reminder). 4 LED’s illuminated indicate «Professional» timer (with 30 second reminder).

Hi there. Would you be able to tell me the difference between the Genius Pro 6000 and the Genius Pro 8000? I recently ordered the 6000 on Amazon in black which is supposed to feature an additional tongue cleaning mode. Basically the handle appears to be the same as the 8000. However I noticed that some models of the 6000 do not feature the tongue cleaning mode. Is there 2 different versions of the 6000 model? Any response is appreciated.

The US variant of the Genius Pro 6000 as standard does not have the tongue cleaning mode. You can see the specs on Oral-B's site. oralb.com/en-us/oral-b-genius-6000-rechargeable-electric-toothbrush/ This tongue mode is available on the Genius Pro 8000. There may well be a version of the 6000 with tongue cleaning mode. This does exist in other countries, but not in the USA as far as I am aware. However, I may have missed this model with tongue cleaning mode. Different brushes can have different names in different markets. The box contents can differ too. If you are in the USA, it is the Genius Pro 8000 that is the main model that is sold. Some may call it just the Genius 8000. However the Genius 8000 in the UK is slightly different to the Genius Pro 8000 in the USA for example.

Hi I live in Canada and I’m considering buying the genius 8000. I’ve seen the Oral B Genius 8000 in both black and rose gold here. Was wondering if you knew if they are exactly the same brush just different colour, or is one a newer model?

As far as I am aware, they are technically the same, just a different colour. Normally that is the case, if they have a different spec they normally have a different model number.

The ‘Pro’ is short for Professional. It is just slightly different naming conventions that Oral-B use across the globe. The Genius Pro 8000 is for the USA and is essentially the Genius 9000 in other places of the world. The Genius 9000 is the best brush from Oral-B. No need to worry, not a new model.

Hi Jared. Up until now we have focused mainly on UK products. Just a couple of guys running the site and channel so it takes a bit of time to get round to doing the videos, actually had a written review online for a good few month. Been requested to look at US products, hence the video. Even-though its been out a while makes sense to take a look at it so we are nice and familiar with it and hopefully makes our channel more complete for viewers.

I hate buying something, only to find a new revision has just hit the shelves, & improves things markedly in x way(s).

Yes they are really the same thing. I have no insider insights into new products, so I can't say if there is something new and improved coming, but not that I have heard or seen, so all being well you will be good for some time before something new and improved comes out.

Jace, There are several key differences, which I will list below. However, the short answer, is buy the Pro 8000. The Pro 8000 has 6 cleaning modes compared to the 5 on the Pro 5000. The extra mode is Tongue Clean. The Pro 8000 has a 14 day battery life compared to the 10 days of the Pro 5000. The battery used in the 8000 is Li-ion compared to the NiMH in the 5000. The 8000 looks different. Slimmer in hand and more stylish in my opinion. The 8000 comes with a travel case that allows it to be charged inside, something the 5000 does not have. The 8000 has enhanced position detection, so it can track the location of the toothbrush in the mouth to help you learn how to brush better. The 8000 comes with a smartphone holder to help achieve the position detection. The 8000 comes with 3 brush heads in the box compared to the 1 of the Pro 5000. The 8000 comes with a smart ring that can be customized 1 of 12 colors. The 8000 brush handle is available in more color options than the 5000. The 8000 has a more powerful motor in the brush. Your video is very helpful, thanks. On personal note, I purchased the brush and used it before realizing the brush way too techie for my needs. I love all my tech devices but for brushing my teeth I really hate having to read a user’s manual and watch video instructions. Kicking myself for this purchase. Now where’s my new phone, Apple pencil and iPad Pro user’s manuals…? (BTW - my old Sonicare brush, ran for two minutes and turned off, end-of-story.)

The two year warranty is a total farce! I love this brush, but the motor tends to die within the 2 year warranty window. I’ve had this happen with my two prior Oral- B brushes. Good luck getting a replacement (or your money back)!!! P&G will make you jump through SO many hoops - that you’ll give up in utter frustration. Starting with their horrific phone menus … to the surly agents who aren’t able to help … to supervisors who aren’t available & won’t back to you. Once again, love the product! But be prepared to replace it within two years. Which makes it a much more expensive product!
