Great review and thoughts on the car. Thanks for that as I'm looking at getting a used one as they seem quite good value for a hybrid and suitable for a small family.

Nice review, especially the floor it tests. Good sound. Not thrilled about the 7.1l/100km though, whats the typical rate on long journeys over motorway at 100-120km/hr ?

I´ve had a 225xe now for almost a year. It is absolutely fantastic! I was very skeptical at first, having had big 5 series BMW´s. But this has turned out to be a very versatile allround car. It is subtle and quiet in the everyday city driving. There are chargers everywhere and I can use the electric motor about 95% of the time when in the city. When I travel further it has a very good fuel consumption. I start off with full electric batteries which gets me about 40-50 kilometres. (I have the newer 10kW battery) Then it switches to the petrol engine. I´ve learned to utilize the settings to the fullest. I sometimes put it on "eco pro" so I can use the coasting where it disengages both engines and doesn´t regenerate power to the battery because that slows the car down. I also take full advantage of the regenerating when going downhill and sometimes switch from "eco pro" to "comfort" to switch on and off the generator to balance the speed for example when going down maintain roads or steep hills. The fuel consumption on long drives is about 5.5 l/100km. In the city it´s about 0-1.5 l/100km. I do take a lot of long journeys across the country for work and i did restart the on board computer right after I bought the car. Then I use the "road trip computer" for each journey to see the individual short term consumption. The average consumption since I bought the car and after 21.000 km is 4.0 l/100km. It is very fun to drive and great for overtaking. It has a lot of standard equipment and I´m very pleasantly surprised by how it keeps making me happier and happier. I did have it remapped for more power. And boy oh boy does this car have potential to be a real beast! It was good before but now it is an absolutely perfect "sleeper". It is now 5.8 seconds doing 0-100 km/h! And it just goes on and on until after about 130 km/h it´s acceleration slows down a bit. Probably because the elecric motor stops helping around that speed. Where I live the winters are very hard. I did have an x-drive 4x4 5 series before this one. The 225xe is an outstandingly better car in the snow! It´s bottom isn´t as spacious and long distance between wheels. The 5 series did have a tendency to sit on it´s "belly" and get stuck. The 225 also has a pretty high road clearance (17cm) without compromising it´s driving handling. So, I get to use a good BMW thats good to drive without almost any fuel in the city AND I can take long journeys with a fast, comfortable car without worrying about range at all and with a very good fuel consumption. And in the city, on my family MPV, I can whenever I want hit the "Auto Drive" and "Sport" setting and have a lot of fun with great, dynamic BMW feel to it 😎. Could not recommend this car any better for people that want to have a practical, spacious, fun car that gets the "goods" from both worlds without worrying about range!

What a load of cods man! I regularly drive 340 miles to Kent from Newcastle (UK) in an Audi Q3 2.0 diesel Quattro! It costs me £40 in diesel each way! Tell me what it costs to do the same in this car when electric drive won't even last 25 miles! I have just ordered a 220D Xdrive Luxury model of this car because I grew up when common sense prevaled ! If you are lucky you might get 6.7 second 0 -62 on a long drive for 35 miles! I will have 7.5 seconds all the time! Wake yourselves up to a bit common sense man!

Will it do 350 miles on £40?? I don't think so. Great if you only drive 15-20 miles a day, but I tend to drive a lot more than that!
