brilliant demo! the crunch form the drive is perfect for techno/electro drums

Thanks! I'm glad it's helpful. I really like the drive on this pedal. Just what i need from a bit saturation to heavy distortion.

Nice! I've got one of these being shipped to me now, to use with the Electribe. There aren't a whole lot of synth demos out there, making it sort of a risky purchase. It's good to see someone else using it that way.

I'm glad i could help a bit. I always have this problem with fx pedals. Tons of guitar demo's and if you're lucky one guy used it on drums or synths.

great demo, looking for something to limit spikes, especially if I oversweep analog heat's resonance knob, you think this works well to control and limit the end of master chain ? saw your comment below, but it's been some time. thanks
@kablehead4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Chris! I never really used the limiter mode on the Platform. But technically it should work. It will definitely get rid of extreme spikes if you set it right. The question is how it sounds when these spikes hit the compressor. And i don't have enough experience with the platform as the final mixbus comp. I used it on some mixes and it sounded good to me. Normally you wouldn't put any kind of pedal at the end of the master chain. But for my lofi music it works.

The EHx is digital and your Heat analogue. Not sure if you would want to do this

Damn that drive knob is so useable. Can't wait to get this pedal
@kablehead4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the drive just sounds right to me. Exactly what i need. You can go from subtle drive to a lot of distortion.

sounds fairly transparent. how do you think this would do for being a master bus compressor / limiter, for transparent spike controlling?
@kablehead5 жыл бұрын
I haven't tested it live. At home it sounds transparent enough for me to use it as a master bus comp. But it's probably altering the sound in some way as all pedals do.

Great demo. any idea how long the slowest attack is?
@kablehead4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'll have to check...
@kablehead4 жыл бұрын
I could get about 20 seconds attack time out of it. But i wouldn't buy it for the attack time anyway. The model samples has no actual attack control. So you have to use a workaround assigning the lfo to the volume and play around with the settings until you have a clear attack phase on your sample. It's not rocket science but also not very practically.

Maybe an alternative to the oto boum, since it’s cheaper and actually in stock. I just wonder about the difference in sound quality though. Also the oto seams to have more features.
@kablehead2 жыл бұрын
The drive section on the Boum might be a bit more advanced. I think you can blend dry and wet signal on the Boum. So you could hit the drive real hard but only blend in a little bit of that hard distortion sound. And Oto devices always have this special mojo. The Platform is just a simple compressor. But as i haven't used the Oto and can't really compare them.
@FuZZbaLLbee2 жыл бұрын
@@kablehead I guess when I see compressor and drive in one pedal, it makes me think that it might be an alternative. Just won a bid on a second hand one, so I guess I’ll find out soon if it works for me.
@FuZZbaLLbee Жыл бұрын
Since the limiter led is on, it is now functioning like a limiter, not a compressor.
@kablehead Жыл бұрын
Yes, but limiting is just compressing with a very high ratio.
@ObKling4 жыл бұрын
Do you find it pretty quickly gets into distortion? I'm looking for punch but not distortion.
@kablehead4 жыл бұрын
If you don't use the drive there's no distortion other than heavy pumping when you dial up the sustain.
@ShaighJosephson3 жыл бұрын
Starts distorting with the Drive control at 9 o'clock... The sustain can also increase the distortion, so you have to balance between those two controls...

@kablehead3 жыл бұрын
Cheers man! I sold the RNC because i wasn't using it a lot. In that time i was mostly using the vinyl sim compressor from the SP-404 as a mixbus comp. When i sold that one too i got the Platform. So i never tried the RNC with the Model Samples. The good thing about the RNC is that you can hook up an EQ to the sidechain input. That way you can keep the lows intact and only compress the higher frequencies for example. I use that function a lot on my GSSL compressor. I guess it depends on what sound you want to achieve. RNC is the cleaner way and the Platform is more on the dirty lofi side.
