I just bought one and it was perfect! I run my Prophet 5 through it!

Timmy, ziggy, paisley, zendrive, and klon or soul food are my top overdrive pedals. Cant really go wrong with any of those. I like the soul food gain turned up past noon
@DadRockAndGuitars Жыл бұрын
Agreed, the Soul Food gain turned up sounds really good. Starts to show off its character more. I have the MXR version of the Timmy and really like it as well. Haven't tried the others, but the Paisley Drive has had my attention for awhile. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment 👍

Raising the gain definitely adds in that mid range character. Are you thinking about getting a Soul Food?

Any difference between the one that has New York printed on the bottom of the pedal and the one that doesn't have New York printed on the pedal? 🤔
@DadRockAndGuitars Жыл бұрын
No difference as far as I know, but I honestly don't follow those things that closely so I can't say for sure.

Still good? I mean the transistors don't age, it'll sound the same forever. The only problem nowadays is its price, I bought mine brand new in 2014 about a month after it launched for less than 50 bucks, now the same pedal is more than double that, which is absolutely unacceptable even with inflation. However, since it just a clone of a Klone, you can build one of these yourself with moderate soldering skills and negligible financial input, the internet is full of schematics which are all free.
@DadRockAndGuitars Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't remember what I paid for mine way back when, but it was a lot less than what it is now (maybe $65 or so). Still a great pedal, but they've definitely gotten expensive compared to what they used to be not too long ago. As far as building one, I'm not one to track down schematics and parts. Just not my thing, but I've thought about getting the Ghost Drive kit from Stewmac just to build it for fun. Thanks for watching!

I thought Americans didn't like or use cheap line instruments ...Thanks for the video..Good melody
@DadRockAndGuitars2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Estructure! Despite what it looks like on social media, there are plenty of Americans that can't afford a wall full of really expensive guitars or may just not want to spend that much money them. My Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster is a fantastic guitar at any price. 👍 Thanks for watching and commenting!

OK I just ordered my first Soul Food that doesn't have the New York USA at the bottom, my mistake for not looking; so after trawling the internet for one that does I ordered another from Bax Music that does have the New York USA on the bottom. I know it won't make a difference to the sound but the USA one is all made in the USA whereas the pcb board is made over seas on the pedal without New York USA. I know, I know I'm anal about crap like this...
@DadRockAndGuitars Жыл бұрын
Glad you were able to find a New York one! I can't judge too much - part of the reason I bought my Fender Tele is because it was "made in the USA". 🤣
@hekakain4108 Жыл бұрын
@@DadRockAndGuitars The second pedal came today without the USA New York etc printed at the bottom of this really good pedal. So now I have two Soul foods' exactly the same...I have a Soul Food back-up and I couldn't be happier...honestly.I have to admit that it has it's own sound that I really do like.😵💫😵💫😵💫

I definitely prefer to get my overdrive and gain tones directly from my amp, but the Soul Food is a great pedal for adding some additional tone options. Thanks for watching! 👍
