I guess you could get some better responses if you were using the GPT-4 model, which is available with a subscription. But the video itself, roasting the AI, was extremely fun. Edit: I just used GPT-4 and it gave me the 6 following ideas: EMP generator, DIY vacuum tube (it would be awesome if you managed to build one), Farnsworth-Hirsch Fusor, Rube Goldberg Machine with High-Voltage Components, DIY Theremin, Homemade Radio Telescope (The Thought Emporium made one a long time ago, when he was here in Brazil with a friend).

Here's some ideas from the top of my head: 1. Build a vaccum tube (old school transistor) 2. Build a 3 ring LED sphere (similar to lantern you did) 3. Find random electronics that emit noise and rig it to play songs. 4. Build a rail gun (I guess you did it before?) 5. Build a peltier junction from scratch 6. Build long range wireless energy transmission circuit (like your magic wand, but safer and more directed) 7. Build a discharge tube or electron gun

Circuit bending is a legit interesting idea, there's not enough of that around. You find the audio circuits in (usually) toys and add components to the circuit to tune how it makes sounds. It usually goes from slightly interesting to hilarious to nightmare fuel, especially if the toy has some speech capabilities built in.
@PBeringer
@PBeringer Жыл бұрын
Damn straight! Was so hoping he was gonna latch onto that one. But judging by some of his reactions to audio-related suggestions, I wonder if Mehdi might be a bit of an electroacoustiphobe. Hehe. But seriously, I would love to see him take on a circuit bending project. Maybe audio circuits have no appeal because they're relatively low voltage and current. He could circuit bend some old tube-driven gear, maybe ... a few 450VDC and 350VDC rails for a bit of "shock value" (sorry, I'll leave). There was the raddest circuit-bending band in Sydney for a few years about a decade ago called Toy Death. God, it was a fun show. There'd be footage of them online, I'm sure. Don't actually know of any other bands like them, but I'm sure there are, I just haven't looked very hard. You know of any?

Firstly, I have to say this is a great video as always! The following wall of text is not meant to be negative, just some things I think could improve results (With an emphasis on “think” and “could”): I think it would have worked better if you started new conversations every so often. ChatGPT sees the history of the chat and tries to predict responses based on your new question plus older messages. This probably caused it to be so repetitive and take on the “weird” tones. If one of the responses has a certain tone and a new response continues in the same tone, this causes a snow ball effect to start. Maybe you opened more conversations and my observations are wrong. If you did split conversation up more, then that's good! Another thing that could still have a chance of improving results is to be more specific in your questions, giving more details and maybe examples. It could also be possible that speaking as ElectroBoom in your questions helps with response quality. As asking about a complex topic as an audience member would probably get a more simplified and less detailed response. Whereas, if you were an expert in the topic's field, responses can afford to be more complex. Another important factor is the data that ChatGPT got its KZbin related knowledge from. If you go looking around for advice about social media content creation online, you find a lot of articles with similar tips and advice. A lot of those articles are also written in ways that scream “quantity over quality”. This of course is all speculation. I'm an AI enthusiast, far from an AI expert, so take all of it with a grain of salt.

I'm sure you've heard those old giants like the Moog modular. Moritz Klein has a series about basic synthesizer module circuits that dive deep, you could do an overview video of it from an engineer's outside view, and maybe make a medhi module of your own? Any fun signal messing could produce a unique sound. Or just Technomedhi's take on that little world of hobby electronic sound noodling? I would love to see that.

Well, no wonder ChatGPT didn't come up with anything sensible. It does not have the ability to create, in the best case it just mixes what it learned before. That's why its ideas for ElectroBOOM videos are already existing ElectroBOOM videos or just slightly changed ones - like the drum kit, just swapped the instrument from the existing video (guitar) with a different one. Very simple "reasoning". 5:43 It won't give you unique ideas, just stolen ones.

In college, one of my professors told a story of how they had a test bed of tunnel diodes. Fired it up, ran it through the negative resistance, and it sucked the radar signals out of the air. This didn’t go unnoticed. Would be fun to see what kind of trouble you could get into with this! 😃
@dimitar4y
@dimitar4y Жыл бұрын
that isn't even remotely scientific or real. you can't "suck radar signals". Radar signals and any other radio signals are literally like a lamp light. They fly in all directions from a source. You can't just,... "suck" them out..

I love imagining an Anti-Mehdi whenever the A.I. keeps talking about a guy with a labcoat, goggles, and a disheveled afro. I also imagine Anti-Mehdi having a curly villain mustache, not sure why. Could be a funny skit in a future video, but I don't know if the idea really helps any. I am hoping to see fanart of ChatGPT's depiction of ElectroBOOM on the next episode of LaTITY. Either way, we all love your personality, your ideas, and your perseverance. Don't try to rush to put together a video, take your time and let things come to you naturally. I personally loved this video, and I'm happy to see more like it if the next big idea takes a little while to come to you. Also, I don't know if the name change or thumbnail image change made a difference overall, but seeing the changed name and icon in my notification box is what prompted me to open the video, almost like a reminder that I still needed to see the cool new ElctroBOOM video.

Could he try out induction welding, induction melting, or those glass/pottery kilns that you put in the microwave? If he hasn’t done similar stuff already of course. I haven’t seen every video. Main idea is that some high temp induction magic with explanation would be cool.

Hey Mehdi, I have never seen you do experiments with lasers before! It doesn't have to be 100 Watt laser, but there is this effect where you put mirror onto a membrane over a speaker. And the vibrations of the membrane make cool patterns on a wall when reflected of the mirror. Just a random idea. Also congratulations on the gold medal in hockey for Canada!

I recently saw a video about a dye laser that was pumped by a diy discharge laser. A discharge laser is quite a simple device where UV laser light is created using a high voltage discharging over two parallel pieces of metal. It is kind of ‘electroboom goes science for real’. Perhaps a bit out of the ordinary.

I have an idea. Make KZbin shorts about electronics safety where you demonstrate with safety equipment and WITHOUT safety equipment. What parts are risky, what are easy ways where you could get shocked. What are UNEXPECTED ways where you can get shocked. How do different shocks feel? What are common ways around the house that cause shocks. I once stayed at a house when they were changing the water pipes and static built up in the appliances because the ground was disconnected. It surprised me lol but I was able to rationalize it. You've got a lot of experience that people enjoy and laugh with. Help us rationalize the intuition to electronics safety through quick examples.

Idea: do something with speakers/transducers. Try to make them "better" or "different" (everyone's tried this over the past many decades) but it may be fun to see your take. Or try to make a huuuuugia speaker like "Back to the Future", or make a large 2D speaker array to mimic a huge speaker but with smaller speakers. It's got power, science, education, and could be fun to see your creative genius applied to acoustic "motors".
