I had the great pleasure of meeting Dr Otala at a HiFi retailer's show in the mid '70's while he was working with Harmon Kardon. We had a nice discussion about amp design and TIM. I left Audio and moved back into (Broadcast) video in the early '80's. That field was well aware of such problems and had very specific tests in place and the specs were always included on the devices. The tests were "Differential Gain" and Differential Phase". Feed in a sinewave and modulate it with a much lower frequency squarewave. Basically gating/ shifting the sinewave's zero crossing point up and down. Then remove the squarewave/ DC shift component. Compare the amplitude of the sinewave at the different operating levels to see if the gain is the same, as the DC operating position modulates. And also compare phase shifts.

This amp made my think on my Advance Paris A12. A lot of people say the French copies McIntosh but I always though the whole range of Advance seems to have drawn a lot of inspiration from Electrocompaniet. The plexi front and blue illumination that they have been using for ages. I bet that's as far as comparisons go though, with the 6DX at more than twice the price of my amp ;)

You are probably both right, some will use glass, others plexi. And sometimes it's hard to tell. My amp uses plexi but if it's cold enough it's hard to tell what exactly that material is. I've only seen an EC once and I thought it was plexi but I didn't have my hardness picks with me :p

All my hifi is from Electrocompaniet, I tried a lot of other brands and I have to say I'm always coming back to EC the only think I really hate is the cheap remote control, and the 4 way navigation

Agree. Only Accuphase came close to Electrocompaniet sound signature to my ears. Still I do not think Accuphase can replace my ECI 5 MK2

The ECI 6 DX MK II is great integrated amplifier, the USB input doesn’t support DSD, I hope to see the streaming APP user interface improvements in future software update.

Interesting amplifier. It could be a one-stop shop for me playing a 'Top-12,000' of lossless Flac tracks from an external drive. No computer, no streaming services needed, the system as simple as it can get. Does playback from an attached drive work well?

It still sounds up to date. But I agree on the HDMI input.
