Dude, you are awesome! Exactly as uncareful as I am, i love that ;) Hooked mine (a black and decker) up with a 2200mAh 3S lipo and it runs just fine. The power is overwhelming, and now after a year even the hobby charger can't bring 2 of the cells over 3.8 even if the other is a 4,2 for a long time. I hooked up a balancing connector to the side and charge it from my hobby charger (positive to positive and negative to negative plus the balancing connector on the side). It has also a lipo voltage warner that is powered by a relays when i turn it on to check the voltages. Its a bit of a hassle each time i have to charge it, but at 60 eur+ for one with similar power, i kept doing it. One year ago, When the battery was new, i think i measured 21A on the motor (mine is a 9.6v version which run with nicads) I'm expecting a BMS in the mail, similar to yours, but 24A, lets see how it goes. Brilliant video I have to say ;)

Made the same swap but 3s2p and used thicker wires. Also tested old 18650 with at least 2000 mah.

It's not the mAh that matter.... it's the Continuous Current rating of the battery cells that matter. So, if using single cells in series, you'd need power tool batteries rated 10A or more. You cannot use Laptop cells, since they are typically rated for maximum 5A to 7A, with much lower continuous current rating.

i was going to make a comment on li-poly/li-ion safety but apparently you already know. "yeahh probably not going to be too happy, but who gives a toss ? if it catches fire it catches fire, just toss it outside" haha. ;) thumbs up just for that. edit: LM2677T, "simple switchers" (e.g. only need to toss on a few aux components to set your output) to step down to whatever amperage that motor is rated for, you can get it for a few pounds off digikey(5.50 US). sometimes they just toss you free samples from their website if you pretend to be a company.

+wither8 Step-down? But that would make the motor run slower, and that's not what I want! If I were to go that route, I'd probably just get some Ebay module to do the job

okay, i've got one like this...it's supposed to have 2 speeds but only works on low speed...is there either a way to bypass this without fucking up the charging of the batteries OR can i just fix it maybe? Any idea..?

Use that batterys in 2S2P configuration, it's reduces the motor current consumption and increases the overall c rating of the pack! 4S is to much for that motor.

+Peter Kis Too much is the point! I already have the 18 V lithium model for a sane vacuum, so I'd rather this one spews flames. I'll probably order some LiFePO4s to shove in it, though.

Where do you always get those vacuums and stuff? xD Don't tell me you get your stuff from an recycling facility. Here, in Germany, you can't pick up stuff from there, they'll throw you out immediately.

+Das OSi They're supposed to throw you out here as well, but they've had huge PR issues, so they've been forced to be a bit lenient as of late.

I've upgraded mine using Lithium battery from my cordless drill, inspired by this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoC5c6J-e9iSosU I think it is easier and more safe. Here is how it looks like: imgur.com/a/7Tzul Dropback besides its ugliness, is the need to remove the battery and change it in drill's original charger. Anyway, it's worth.

I've just seen your new video of ERGOLiFePO4! Nice! :)
