Trying to help my Japanese mother in law fix her same vacuum cleaner and she had this exact problem. Thanks for making this very specific video!

Hi Oscar, hadn't received any notification for your kind comment so please excuse my tardiness. So glad that this video was helpful, I think this is a regular problem with these machines, I suppose it depends on usage and age (of the machine) how long these machines can run for. Thanks for watching and commenting, best wishes from France, Andy.

Ours did this. Put in fridge 1 hour. Fixed.

Yep, you'll have reset the thermal overload. But this won't solve the reason for the heating in the first place. It may be worth while just having a look inside the works to see if there is excessive dust build up. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Andy.

NOTE: The reason that this occurs is that the brass "bushing" in the center of the fan gets loose from the plastic fan itself. This allows the fan to side away from the motor and scrape on the fan housing. It's pointless to just polish the housing... you need to also reset the fan back into the correct position on the motor shaft. This is usually caused by cracks in the centre part of the fan. You need to re-glue everything and to secure it with a metal ring (eg: keyring + glue). If you don't fit this, the fan will move and start scraping again. The fan should sit less than 1mm away from the housing on the motor side. If you can see a larger gap, your fan has moved (and will continue to move, then scrape again).

I have a slightly newer model with a clear motor housing instead of the black/white plastic. can;t manage to get the snap clips to release unfortunately, so it looks like a full replacement is due.

Ouch! Sorry I don't have any info on that. Perhaps you may find one (not working) and cannibalize it for the parts you need. Good hunting and best wishes from Normandie, Andy.

Thank you so much for this video. I could hear rattling inside the casing of the motor part of the vacuum. I could see screws to undo, however, your video gave me the confidence to understand where prising a little is needed, etc. By the time I got the cover off, the motor was working. However so much dust fell out, I thought I might as well clear the fan - I kept checking the motor was still working as I pulled the bits apart carefully. There was an unbelievable amount of string-like pieces, cat hair, as well as caked-on dust inside the fan after only 2 years. By the time I finished cleaning the motor was no longer working when I pressed the on-off switch. I can't see any loosened wires that may have inadvertently been strained while pulling the motor aside to clean the fan. I can't see any attachments to the bumps on the underside of the switch. Should there be? I can't find an electrical circuit online to compare. Might you know my next step or is it time for a professional now?

Mine works when it’s on it’s own but when it’s put together it does that thing you showed in the video. What should I do?
@Organikmechanic4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I thought I'd replied to your question. The reason it is showing the error light is because something else is overloading the motor. I would suggest you check to see if the rotating brush in the main body of the machine is seized. Remove the hand held unit (the power unit) before you start to check this component. You will know if it is the brush mechanism that is at fault if the hand held unit works again once away from the main body. Hope this helps and you haven't given up on this problem. Best Wishes from Normandie, Andy.

Hello good afternoon I saw the whole video, I'm sorry I don't speak or understand the English language. I have a vacuum cleaner like this, but the bottom part works. But the top button, to use to clean the floor, I turn the button on and it hangs up, it doesn't stay on. If I call from the bottom, it works. But as I have paralysis in my leg, it is difficult to keep lowering. Would you know and could you help me? My name is CristinaGiovaneti Thank you

Tudo de bom da França e se precisar de mais ajuda, basta escrever de volta, Andy Hello Cristina, I think the brushes at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner are not rotating. This is probably because there is something such as a piece of thread wrapped around them that is stopping them. If you have the vacuum cleaner instruction book, it explains how to clean the brushes to stop this happening. For your safety, before cleaning the brushes make sure you remove the detachable hand unit (for easy identification - this is the component showing at 0.47 in the video). You do this so that no power is going to the brushes - so they are safe to touch. I am in the process of writing an article to accompany this film - it will be ready to read within 2 days, so you will be able to translate it directly and I will mention the fault you have with your vacuum cleaner too! All the very best from France and if you need any more help just write back, Andy

Same problem here. You have this motor available in AliExpress for just 8 €. Search for model Mabuchi RS-540SH-6035 DC 9V-12V
@Organikmechanic2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cesar, thanks for the information. As you can see from my video, the fault was due to the levels of fine dust build up on the fan and housing. I am sure that if the unit had not had a thermal overload protection, the motor would have burned out and need replacing. Thanks for watching and for your suggestion. Best Wishes from Normandie, Andy.

Hello, I have a very similar problem but only the indicator light is blinking. Can you please tell me what it could be? The vacuum cleaner turns on, runs for about 10 seconds, then the indicator light comes on and flashes. If you press the power button, it turns off, and when you turn it on again, everything repeats.

Hi, it sounds like it is overloading like the one in the video. I would go through the procedure illustrated in the video and clean the fine dust out of the fan. Also check the fan is still firmly attached on the shaft. Good luck, Andy.

Greetings from Singapore! I bought this same vacuum cleaner over 3 years ago, kept it and never used it. Recently I decided to start using it, hence I assembled the vacuum and charged it for over 4 hours. When being charged, it blinks an orange light (3 stripes) every 9 seconds. According to the manual it should be fully charged. However, when I take it out and click the on/off button, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. Could you please help me? What’s wrong with my vacuum cleaner? How do I fix it? I tried to googling this but it didn’t help. I still don’t know why or how to fix this issue. I would really appreciate your help! Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas.
