Your speed calculation for the switching frequency, depends on the pole pairs. Calculation: electrical angle / pole pair = mechanical angle Your big PMSM has 4 poles (N+S, N+S) so 2 pole pairs therefore the factor ~ 2 The small motor, PMSM has 7 pole pairs so 14 magnets inside, right ? ;) The fact with the KV story is correct!

I need a brushless motor that can provide a high torque (>5Nm) at rpms between 1 and ~300, would a bldc motor be good for that? My current choosing is a NEMA34 stepper

Hey, I have a question. I want to calculate how a certain motor size like a 5055 motor with 340kv. How much torque it delivers rpm is like you said very easy. But I have no idea how to calculate do you have some material so I can find out? Like does it work with the induction law The higher the current the more torque it makes? Because from what I've read is that a 6350 VS 5055 the first one gives more torque because it has a bigger stator. (they have the same kv rating.) but how can I calculate if I have let's say this amount of current at this voltage with this amount of kv and x size of motor. Rated to this many watts. How much Newton meter will it deliver. I want to do this so I can determine my optimal gearing ratio. Because I know how large the load is.

Dear Scott Hopefully you get to read this message. Ive seen in most videos that bldc motors are powered with lipo batteries, surely because of the discharge rate of the battery. I am new in the subject but I would like to test bldc motors powered with an adjustable dc power supply rather than lipos. My question ir regarding the current. Most 100EUR Lab PS outputs only 10A and 0-30V 100A PS costs more than a 1000EUR. Will I burn my PS when the motor is loaded or at start? I am missing something here? Are batteries in consecuence the cheapest way to power bldc motors? I hope you can help me out here or if you could clarify this in a video would be awesome!! since I believe there is nothing concrete about this in youtube. Keep it up! Hi, I was wondering if you could use a esc to control a stand fan motor, it’s because I have one laying around and wanted to see if this could work, I’m a little bit confused because it has 8 coils and 4 wires, do I connect the main 3 to the esc and the last one that is divided into two are supposed to be connected with a capacitor? I want to see if I could controlled it with a dc supply, even though the output of the esc is Ac, but you get the point. If this couldn’t be done what else I can do to make it work, thank you. By the way, the wiring I mention is something I think it could work from videos and wiring that I have seen, but not 100% sure.

Thanks GreatScott!, my problem concerns a brushless motor used as a bicycle dynamo (generator) to charge my phone, I calculated that the motor shaft would rotate around 5500 rpm with the bicycle going at 20-25 Km/h, with a 3 phase diode bridge and an IC to stabilize current at 5V the trick should work. But regarding brushless I see on markets that speeds range around 15K-25K rpm (!) and current flow ranges around 10-15 A (I need max 1A, otherwise my phone can catch fire) I wonder where I can find technical data about the performance (V, W, I) in the area 4000-6000 rpm, which is my area of interest (I'm a bit out of shape....) . Perhaps I should use a brushless AC motor with gear, which increases the cost. Any suggestion? M
