Demonstration of the electronic control system I put together for my New Holland 1034 bale wagon.
-The primary components are electronic linear actuators and an Arduino micro-controller. Feel free to ask any questions you may have in the comments.
-If you're interested in purchasing a system for your machine, let me know and maybe we can work something out

If anyone is interested in getting a system, I could provide a complete unit for $1800, depending on how many linear actuators you'd need. I wish it was cheaper but the parts list alone is close to $1000. Reply below if you're interested and we'll see if we can work something out. Thanks!

Hi. I just found your videos. I have a 1034. Recently purchased. The load rack is constantly jamming halfway down. It seems to be doing it if the bales are slighly out of consistent size. Does your 1034 do the same and if it does how did you solve it.

If you're on Facebook and not already in the New Holland Balewagon group, you should be. They enjoy stuff like this although I have not seen something like this in the group

Thanks for turning me onto the facebook group, I'm on several online forums but hadn't come across the FB group. I think the system would be pretty easy to put together, I went through a couple iterations.

This is pretty smart! Very good job! If you are going to put up small square bales you have to have a bale wagon!! Mine is very old!! Don't know the number, but is only holds 70 bales, self propelled with a Wisconsin 4 cylinder torque monster, and open cockpit but works like a charm, and you can always count on it!! Makes it a one man operation!!! Again, very good job!!

Have you ever built a kit for a 1063? I’d love to convert ours, have the cab kit but it’s cumbersome and the replacement cables are expensive

Montomery Farms, did you make a second one to go on your newer bale wagon?
@Xealuz
@Xealuz 3 жыл бұрын
Not yet, last year was my first year with the 1049. Most of my time spent was just getting the thing up and running. Though, the hand controls on the self propelled wagons are pretty good, compared to a pull type.

What linear actuator did you use? What was the stroke length?

What is the advantage of adding arduino over just using switches to power the actuators directly?
@Xealuz
@Xealuz 3 жыл бұрын
I initially thought of using limit switches on the actuators, but realized that I'd only get two positions (in and out). With the bale wagon, all of the control rods are 3 position (in, middle and out) so that lent well to the arduino with the position feedback on the actuators. Additionally it allowed me to have speed control on the 3rd table so I could set the stack down gently.

Thanks for share your video. How did you connect the actuators to the cables?
@Xealuz
@Xealuz 3 жыл бұрын
The actuators have their own electrical cables with connectors, they plug into the connectors in the control box

@Montgomery Farms Thanks for your reply. Your ideas have really got me thinking. My question is: how did you connect the end of the actuator to the push/pull cable on your bale wagon? I can't quite tell from the pictures. Appreciate any help.

@@farmertan13 check out the video around 5:40. I used 1" square steel and drilled a hole through it for the control rod, then on one of the other faces drilled and tapped another hole, 3/8 I think, to intersect with the through hole. I then used some aluminum c-channel, cut it about 1" wide and drilled a hole in the base. Finally, I slipped the 1" block onto the control rod, and then tightened a screw, through the c-channel, onto the control rod, sort of like a set screw.

Very clever! Would you be willing to sell me a parts list and where to buy the parts. I also have a enclosed cab and would like to operate the stacker from a enclosed cab. Or if your buyer doesn't want the system would you sell it to me? I have a New Holland 1033. Thanks
@Xealuz
@Xealuz 3 жыл бұрын
The system sold with the wagon, ill have to look into the parts list and see what I can pull together. I'd be able to flash the code onto the arduino, but may be a bit difficult to get everything detailed out enough so someone else could get it wired. That said, the linear actuators are $140 each on Amazon, so 5x is $700, probably figure $150 for electrical components, enclosure and miscellaneous. Let me know if you still have appetite for the project knowing base cost. If your still interested, I could put some more thought into putting another system together and how much time it would take me. Let me know.

@@Xealuz Thank you for your response. The cost is ok. I found a good used 1033 for $500 so I have room to improve it. Let me know what would do to communicate the parts sourcing and details of install. Thanks
