Thanks for the information John, I just completed the electrical, interior dome painting and the voice tube painting and blue gel mods. It came out great. The only additional thing I did was to 3D print a replacement button for the voice activation, on the front of that button I added a small brass cap with 4 holes, to make it look more like the original.

I just got one from Amazon, as Walmart had none (though I did get a credit..so it's still $20) But, how do you get to the electronics? Are they in the torso? Personally, I would love to make 'walking' as an option, and always have the 'gyros' rotating when he is pressed. Maybe just the head moving as in the film. Oh..what gel did you use? Is there anyway to could either do a single video..from opening, soldering, and closeing up? Or a series of still photos?? I also have a trendmasters B9..and I always wanted him to say 'my sensors detect an intruder present' while in surveillance mode, vs 'Danger, Will Robinson.......' It just made more sense
@Robothut4 жыл бұрын
I did 4 videos on this. you can find them in my Robothut channel. here is the one on fixing the walking problem for example. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ6rYWmjf8uNd7s There is only 1 motor inside so if you want the gyros to spin but the robot not to walk you will have to add a micro gear motor for that function. The robot already has a switch to turn off the walking action, so it is a option. I uised a blue lighting jell, but you can use translucent blue paint from a hobby store to tint the LEDS. I did a complete post of pictures and videos and information on the Alpohadrome web site. Here is a link for the topic. alphadrome.net/forums/topic/22906-goldlock-walmart-2020-robby-and-trendmaster-1999-robby-inside-look/

Was wondering if you could make a video of how to wire in a USB power supply so the robot lights could be on for display without the talking or walking?
@Robothut3 жыл бұрын
Seams like all you would have to do is add a KILL switch for the Motor and speaker. The robot runs on 6 volts "4 batteries at 1.5 volts each" so the 5 volts you get from the USB would be close enough to replace the battery power.

So I was taking the chest apart to look at the circuit board for the rewiring job and watching the video and wouldn’t you know it, my robots got different colored wires inside. I haven’t checked the second one yet but I’ve a feeling that it’ll be similarly wired up. Can I share you my pics? The wires are as follows: #8 - white, #7 - two wires gray and red. Nothing on 6, #5 also gray, #4 blue. The three that go “up” on mine appear to be two yellow and an orange and I think that’s the one I will need to move. Again I can share my photos if you’re up to looking at them. Thanks in advance.
@Robothut3 жыл бұрын
Yes they seem to change wire colors from time to time. So wire placement in the pictures is about all I can share. Now many other youtubers have done video's of my mod and some of there videos might show different color wires. But in the end the wire color does not really matter what matters most is where the come from and the points that I show you to connect them. But first check out the other videos I did as well as the videos by others just in case that shows you what you need to know. I do not have a walmart robby that I can tke a part to try and compare with pictures you have taken so I do not know that new pictures would be any help.

@@Robothut Sounds good, I figure that based on your videos [I have watched them all at least 3x each], that based on where to find wires soldered to the board and where they should be going I can figure it out. Thank you

I will have to take Robbie apart and look for loose or dethatched wires and check the switches If I can't fix him at least I have a great shelf ornament.
@Robothut3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a good plan, bad wires or defective switches need to be checked. Before you make a ornament out of it you can always wire the motor to run threw the slide demo switch on the back of the body and still have a walking robot.

My Robbie came with a black wire soldered to #6 (goes to head), in addition to the individual black wires on #7 & #8. What happened? Any suggestions other than removing all 3 wires from V and resoldering one at a time?
@Robothut3 жыл бұрын
I do not see an easy way around it. They do like to change the wire colors it seems from other guys posts. But for the most part the wire color does not matter as long as the wires are moved from the positions I show to the new positions things should work.
@dennisstahl11833 жыл бұрын
@@Robothut Thanks, but I still don't know what gives with that black wire (black wires are on 6, 7 &8 from factory) that is soldered to #6 Where you would put the yellow wire in question? Leave it be on the #6 position?
@Robothut3 жыл бұрын
@@dennisstahl1183 What I would do in your case is first you have to find out what wire that is soldered to V+ is the mouth wire, so remove one of the wires from the V+ pad and see if the mouth stops working or the dome light stops working. Once you have the mouth wire located you can then move the wires what ever colors they are from 6 & 7 pads to the #5 pad and the mouth wire you just found to pad 6 or 7. Since 6 and 7 are the same thing either pad will do.

@@Robothut Thank you very much! I'm 71, and I think I went into an anxiety driven senior moment. LOL. I got the correct yellow wire to the mouth first choice. One of the 3 wires appeared to be longer than the other 2, making me believe that one likely went to the mouth, as the other 2 wires had further to go into the head, and had less slack left, if you know what I mean. It works fine, anyway. I had already sprayed the exterior of the mouth Tamaya transparent blue, and I can live without the black separators of the mouth.
