Just bought this earlier in the week for $15 at Walmart. I love this robot. Looking forward watching your next video regarding the electrical mods

I found an alternate method of getting the "ears" pulled. After a lot of effort with just my fingers and trying to pad the jaws on pliers (to no avail), I ended up taking some twine and tied a loop on each ear then pulling simulantenously as I twisted the ears. It worked well. To put back on, I drilled out the holes in the ears to allow the rod ends to more easily slip back on.
@Robothut4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good idea. And yes either drill out the ears or file off the splines on the shaft will make it easier to put together or take apart later.

@@Robothut Would it be possible to just open the torso and be able to remove the mouthpiece that way in order to paint & customize only that part?

OK after doing a few of these my fingers were hurting from the pinching and pulling to get the ears off. So I made a Stubby ear puller that lets you use plyers to do the pinching and pulling and man it works great. Added the stl files to thing-I-verse files already listed .

I know something else you can do to make the head more accurate. Paint the back and sides of the glass dome black. Just follow the black part that's pressed up to the clear plastic. I just did a crude attempt with flat black and it looks better.

Hi there I finally got one sent to Australia I had him about a week and suddenly the sound stopped working and he dose not move anymore. The lights are now coming on permanently when the battery's are connected. The on off switch and mode button are not working anymore. I've tried changing the battery's but still no sound or movement just lights on static I have had to take the battery's out to prevent them running down. Do you have any ideas what the problem may be.
@Robothut3 жыл бұрын
I know you have tried changing the batteries but all these things are what happens when the battery voltage is low. Use a volt meter to check the batteries under load. I have had NEW batteries that were defective before, many times . So be 100% sure the batteries are 100 % good, it only takes one bad battery.

Can you do a quick video showing how and where you used the sharpie on the mouth piece and where can I get a piece of blue gel without having to buy a lot? Thanks
@Robothut4 жыл бұрын
The mouth part has ridges cast into the part so if you buy a ultra fine tip sharpie you can fill in between the ridges. And the good part is you can also just brush on some black paint, then when it dries sand off the top surface and that leaves just the black in the lower areas. As for the blue jell plastic binders for school papers and dividers can be found cheep and even at dollar stores some times. Craft stores have translucent colored plastic used for different things from Craft book projects to wraping flower displays.

I got a second today and was able to get the ears off so I could get into the dome, and wouldn’t you know it the figure is missing the clear “gem” on the top of the head. ☹️ Got any spares lying around?

Thanks so much for the video! I just discovered your video and am on my way to Walmart as we speak. Thanks for the great tips. Is there another way to remove the side blasters? I dont have a 3D printer. Any suggestions?
@Robothut4 жыл бұрын
Plyers will do it but try wrapping the blasters in cloth or or rubber to keep from destroying them, also put some protective tape on the down so as you twist the plyers back and forth you do not mark up the clear plastic dome. Once you get one of them off, you pull the other and the metal shaft out and work in the open. File down the ridges on the shaft so putting it back is easier and all so that makes it easier to take apart next time you want to get inside.

Change the mouth LEDs to blue LEDs?
@Robothut4 жыл бұрын
Surface mount LEDS are hard for some to work with and buy, so I did it in a way that anyone could work with. A color lighting jell or tint the LEDs with blue paint. Changing the LEDS is a great way to do it if you like working with surface mount .

Hi everyone I need your help please please. I have a Robby from Walmart. Today at 4:00 am suddenly he starts to speak, he turn on by himself. I take him, check the position of the button and every was OK. I put him at his place and surprise he suddenly start to speak again so I remove the batteries to go to sleep Today at morning I check the charge of the batteries and was good; put them again and Robby don’t start anymore, he was like dead But surprise one hour late he start to speak again. I don’t know what is happening, he turn on by himself and when I try to turn on he don’t work.
@Robothut4 жыл бұрын
I would try all new batteries, there might be some problem with the old ones. When checking the charge of a battery you need to do it under load.
