By far the best video on the art of quadrajet adjustment on KZbin! My daily driver is a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale with the 350, and I have been using Shell 91 V-Power since I got it as it had no ethanol. Sadly, every gas here in Canada was forced to have 5% ethanol this past summer. Even the 94 Chevron. So, the ethanol totally dried up my accelerator pump. Looked like a dried banana. Rebuilt the carb easily, but there is absolutely nothing on how to set the choke. Now I found your video, but it's late, so come morning the carb will get some TLC on the choke. I have owned many quadrajets over the years with no problems whatsoever, but this ethanol junk sure did a number on my old girl. Liked and subbed! Thanks a million!

Absolutely. Where I live, it's impossible to get pure gas. If there car sits for a few days, I come back to a dry float bowl.

Your content on Quadrajet carburetors is excellent. I just tecently purchased a '90 Cadillac Brougham with the 307 Oldmobile engine. I tecrntly rebuilt the carb and now have to make these adjustments. Its been about thirty years since i worked on these. This car brings back many memories for me. Just subscribed. Thanks for sharing.

The problem I have is my high idle works fine but I can't get the idle to step down...typically not until the car is almost at operating temperature. What suggestions do you have on what to check?

The choke on my 1979 Chevy C10 works good, but it still is hard to start.

Question my car is an 85 electronic Qjet 4bb when I start the engine and kill the key after it runs it starts dieseling any advice ? Carb adj. cleaning?

These have a tendency to diesel if the idle speed is set really high. I would start there.

Great video as always. At cold start, my '86 Caprice idles way too high AND take 5 minutes or so before it drops down to the second step of the fast idle cam. Are 1) fast idle speed and 2) fast idle duration both affected by the fast idle adjustment screw? Or could it also be because of choke stat misadjustment?

Would the drill bit size be 31 or 5/8 in fractions?
@rporestorations Жыл бұрын
The actual conversion is 3/25. I'd recommend using a 1/8 drill bit, as they are available in any hardware store. That equals about .125, which should get you close enough.
