I have an 84 Impala Sedan 305-CCC HEI electronic distributor advance TH700R4. Your videos have been instrumental. The choke is often overlooked and your videos demystifies the "black magic" so to speak. I haven't been able to set the angle right. Now, I'm going to bite and grab one off Ebay. You are right about the drill bit sizing, with a CCC its going to be lots of trial an error without one of these gauges. I need one asap. Although my car doesn't use a Secondary Vacuum Break according to the specs sheets, the carb is the original virgin carb I recently rebuilt several days ago, it always had a Secondary attached but with its vacuum port capped with its linkages. It was never put to use, probably while it was being adjusted at the dealership to meet CA emissions it must have been modified since its a Canada Import my Dad bought new off the lot in 83. In order to kick it down off the high idle cam, it needs to be kicked down. I inherited it while in high school senior year 98, and it was my daily driver until the carb failed months before the pandemic. If I can implement the secondary break to do the kickdown without having to do so physically while it idles down in the drive way it be sweet. My 80 Buick V6 Turbo used to do this, it was a sad day when i had to part ways from it. unfortunately I didn't pull parts off it or documented its function so that I could somehow implement that in my Impala.

Exactly addressing a problem I have on an 86 Chevrolet. It failed emissions and was going to be scrapped- the problem is the choke, and these vacuum breaks.

Don't scrap it! They can be replaced and adjusted. It can be done.

@@rporestorations The whole van was what I was referring to. Because the carburetor wouldn’t pass emissions- but I am fixing it with the aid of this video. Nothing being scrapped- its being fixed.
