There are 5 contact relays without a NC, NO contacts. Pins 85-86, 30 87-87 (not 87a). How does the tester react?

How does putting a load on a relay matter and how much of a load does the tester put? A multimeter set to ohms passes a very low current from one lead to the other, and sending that current through the switched side of a relay means it goes through the prongs, the contact points inside, and the switch filament. If those contact points are burnt up you would get voltage drop with a high load for sure, but i also doubt the ohms would be near zero on the meter. As far as getting it to click on I dont see a need for anything other than a 9v battery. If this tool is worth its weight in gold like some tools i have and love i would buy it, but otherwise it doesnt make any sense. And that one does not look like a chinese ebay $15 tool. It looks like a $180 tool made by a big brand but still from who knows where.

Thanks for the comment! I will say using a 9 volt battery across the contacts and using an ohm meter will be sufficient 99.99% of the time, no doubt there. You could also step up your game and make a decent relay tester for not much money at all. But that isn't what this kit is about, its for the professional who test multiple relays of all types and appreciates the speed. They can just plug in a relay, hit test and the unit is going to load test it 10 times, then they are done. But you are absolutely correct, you can test a relay by hand using an ohm meter and get similar results.
