Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to create this video. I have a Hoover cannister that's maybe 30 years old. Made in the USA. It started and then stopped working. It would have cost me at least $100 to have a repair technician even look at it. I don't believe I'll ever find a new Hoover made in the USA in my lifetime. I then saw your video and thought, I have nothing to lose trying to repair it myself. I opened up the machine and discovered it was the switch. Including giving the machine a thorough cleaning the repair took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish with about 15 or 20 of those minutes spend carefully cleaning the inside of the machine. I wouldn't have even thought to try it without having seen your video. Thanks again!

Another video that’s easy to follow, and can potentially help people save a lot of money. I realize that this was only a normal household vacuum cleaner, and not a workshop power tool. But I was a little disappointed that you didn’t include a “this is also a great opportunity to inspect the length of the power cable for cuts and other issues” segment to the video. Perhaps you could add that to another video one day? I’d bet you could make some great “power tool maintenance” videos. Cheers from Denmark

"It's ALIVE" Nice one, seems like such an unlikely failure yet this happens quite a lot on this type of motor. Series wound or so called "universal" motors that may be able to run on AC or DC. There is a lot of back or counter EMF (electro-motive force) due to the inertia of the armature and the brushes feeding a very high voltage albeit very brief that cause a fairly big arc to flash across the switch contacts. Some of the original lubricant is no doubt what turned to carbon. I like little switches like this, or the momentary on types they can be easily be taken apart cleaned and or converted to normal on off types. Fun video , top job (again)

I have a moosoo D600 stick Vacuum that will not turn on. I tore it apart, but used my handheld voltage tester instead of a multimeter. 1…It’s definitely not my switch as all the wires inside are live when turned on, except for one of them connecting to the little plastic yellow box (0.47 µF KX2). I think that’s the capacitor that allows the motor to instantly turn it on. 2… I could not get my motor to turn over the way you did in your video. Is it stuck? 3… After probing around with it turned on and plugged in for a while I heard a “popping“ sound. So then I unplugged it, but I did not see any smoke or smell anything. Nor that I feel any heat from the motor. I did not see any loose, disconnected, or burned wires or or connectors. Nor did I see any apparent damage inside the motor? Nor did I notice any fuses or any cut off switch both inside and outside the motor? 4…The outer cord covering where it connects to the vacuum is broken, but since it gets power inside the unit, I don’t think that’s the problem. 5…There are supposed to be two filters inside the canister, but the hard plastic primary filter is missing. Only the soft HEPA filter is there. Could that have allowed dirt to get inside the motor and ruin it? Does anybody have a clue as to what’s going on?

electronicsNmore and friends: If you are not receiving notifications, unsubscribe wait a few seconds, and then subscribe and ring the bell to receive all notifications. Many people throw out perfectly working devices and only a small thing like cheaply made switches make people throw them away. so much electronic waste. Funny every time something breaks people say $%^&*, while you say GREAT a new video idea :) typing this while fixing something else to test the electricity with a 9v battery on alligator clips with a cheap battery tester. hard to see when vision gets worse which I fix things less due to eye strain. silly me the power supply adapter has a cut... again. typical. What a wast of time to unscrew the device since the tester showed power in the power supply before but its seems random.
