Fixed. Thanks. I'll start using distilled water. I have a 15441 model with the same exact heater that was leaking out the relief valve with very little steam coming out. I didn't take the heater apart. I removed the hoses and using a pump spray bottle, forced vinegar into the output and input holes and also using a paperclip in the holes. I let it sit for a half hour with the vinegar in the heater and put the hoses back on and it put out steam like it was new and no leaks. 😀

I just finished putting my Bissell steam mop back together. The plunger on the heater was so crystalized with the spring on and wouldn't come off. I submerged the heater in boiling white vinegar for about ten to fifteen minutes after disassembling in two pieces. I honestly i got a table spoon of calcium powder from the inside of the heater that's how bad it was. Did all the checks with the meter and everything was ok. It is now working like a charm.Thanks for your awesome video. Anyone who gives negative remarks on your video can suck it..God bless

I have the same model and it started leaking out of the back on me. After contacting Bissell and receiving zero help besides sending me a new tank. I decided to take apart the machine. My problem was inside the high pressure relief valve. The little plastic piece was broken around the lip where the o ring sits. Without any help from Bissell nor a vacuum parts company, I decided to make my own plastic piece out of stainless steel shelf support dowel. Measured with a micrometer and transfered the measurements to the stainless steel piece. Works like a charm and zero leaks. I suggest if your unit is leaking from the back and your tank is okay with zero cracks, you should check this high pressure relief valve first!

Thank you for this excellent tutorial. My steam mop was leaking so much water out of the hooded vent at the back that I was getting hardly any steam from the mop head. Following this video my husband took apart the heater which was badly corroded inside, cleaned it and the badly corroded copper needle through which the steam escapes. My mop now works like new. Thanks again.

Excellent video! Since my unit was no longer producing adequate steam from the mop head (water was dripping out of the back), I was going to disassemble it on my own and try to figure out the issue, or else it was headed for the dumpster anyways. Your video was VERY helpful in using as a reference while disassembling/reassembling. Very detailed, yet not repetitive/boring. Straight to the point. Thumbs up! Not sure why it even has 3 thumbs downs -- maybe Bissell wants everyone to spend more $ on a new one lol. I just wanted to say that I've only EVER used distilled water in mine, yet I still had a fair amount of corrosion and crud inside of the heater unit. I'm not sure if it's just the result of cheap products, as seems to be the case with 95% of the items we buy today. I soaked mine in vinegar, scrubbed the inside of the housing out, rinsed it, and made sure those 4 little holes were unclogged before reassembling. Seems to work like brand new now. Having to do this every couple of years will be a pain, but I'm not ready to toss this one out yet :)

I think people get corrosion and mineral deposits confused: Corrosion is going to happen as they clearly do nothing for corrosion resistance. I've now read hundreds of posts saying the same of distilled water, ergo, corrosion still happens with the absence of minerals --two different things. Either way was glad someone had a full disassembly

To answer a lot of people's question about the fuse and thermal switch discussed at 23:24, here are the specs I saw when I disassembled: The thermal switch is model KSD301, 16A, 125V. Below that info is written 150, which might be degrees Celsius, but I don't know for sure. The thermal fuse is an AUPO BF192-I rated for 192 Celsius. It doesn't say the amperage and these fuses seem to come in at least 10A and 16A variants. I'm going to try to find a local store where they can hopefully find exact matches that won't burn my house down. People, don't run these mops when they're out of water. Somebody ran mine dry and these parts blew. Thank you for the excellent video.

Thanks for this video. Awesome! My wife's church had purchased one of these units for cleaning the office floors. However, the individual who does that was not given the instruction guide or any verbal instructions. She apparently thought it was a complete mop replacement, so (I think) when it came time to wax the floor, in went the wax (or something) and the unit stopped producing steam. Don't know when that happened, but yesterday, my wife brought it home for me to look at. The only water that came out was dripping form the back. Thanks to your extremely well detailed instructions, I disassembled the unit down to the boiler... OMG... what a mess. The wax (or whatever it was) had adhered to the heater (fortunately, enough tap water had been through the machine first that there was a layer of calcium which I was able to flake off, taking most of the wax with it, but the tank I had to laboriously scrape with a small mechanic's pick and a couple of different sized screwdrivers. The steam tube was clogged and that was another mess to clean. Then there was the ceramic pressure valve, which was stuck to the inlet seat. I finally resorted to pounding it out with a ball peen hammer and a large hex key. Yikes. Looks ok, however. Tomorrow, after I get some hi-temp RTV, it'll all go back together and I'll find out if I wasted my time. Thanks again!

Be sure to remove and clean the orange rubber washer at the bottom of the heater cover at 17:47. It looks white because of the calcium build-up on it. It will cause a loss if steam pressure at the mop head and water to drip out of the pressure relief port located under the SN# label on the back cover.

Great video. My heater had like a teaspoon of powder/flakes at the bottom and was a mess. After cleaning that up, I put it all back together and was confident it would work. But it didn't. Took it apart again and tested the pump. It makes all the right sounds but just dribbles water. I can't find a replacement for the pump only. This video has 169K views. There must be 100K of these in landfills, and most probably have perfectly good pumps. Unfortunately, it looks like we're just going to have to buy a whole new unit. Awesome video. My model #1940 made all the same sounds as when new but no steam or even water passing through it. I disassembled the unit just like the video and found the culprit. My pump would make noise but water wouldn't come out. I removed the two electrical terminals and pulled the center section from the coil assembly. After removing it I found this pump could be accessed with slight rotation then pulled apart. If you do this there are a lot of parts and they need to go back together the same way. I found a very small piece of plastic between the piston and the cylinder. Problem solved! Thank you for the video. The Steam Mop is a feat of engineering from packaging to servicing! Thanks Doug!

Any tips on where to source the thermal switch? Or the temperature rating for this switch? Thanks so much for any sources you can offer.

Fantastic video, so comprehensive and informative! But I goofed: I didn't remove the small red silicone caps when removing the heater cover and lost one! Argh! I don't think I can put it back together without it. What can I possibly do?
@electronicsNmore4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! You'll need to use something similar that can tolerate heat. Either form a new cap using GE silicone, or find a silicone tube of the same size that you can cut.

@@electronicsNmore Thank you for the advice. Silicone that I find is all purpose caulk. Would that work? Thanks in advance! You are really helpful!

Great vid well explained apart from this problem. What happens if you are getting continuity between the hot end of the plug on the power cord and all hot and neutral terminals in the unit. The unit is dead and does not light up any of the buttons.
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
Either the switch is faulty, the motor has a blown thermal fuse on the winding, the brushes aren't making contact anymore, OR the motor has a faulty winding.
@simonclutterbuck66973 жыл бұрын
@@electronicsNmore Thanks for your help I isolated the thermal fuse as its looped back into the neutral wiring and re tested it and its faulty. The heating element is good though so thats a bonus. Cheers.

Any chance you can tell me how to reassemble the handle please? My trigger wasn’t working and unscrewed the handle but everything fell out before I could see how it went together! My orange I ring on the black T valve is perished so hoping this is the problem… hopefully I can find a replacement part! Thanks so much for this!!

Concise helpful video.. You may have sent some sideways with ohms readings when relative to voltage.. 240v land should expect 38 ish ohms for element.

Great video! However, I was taking apart the boiler and I broke all the screws! Apparently I don't know my own strength. Is the boiler itself available as a replacement part? I cannot find it anywhere except for a used one on eBay. Thanks if you can help.
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
Try and remove them with vise grips, or drill out the screws and re-thread using a tap. You can also look on eBay for a broken unit for parts. Thanks for watching!

I watched the video and began to dismantle the steamer as per the video. When I got to the heater one of the screw heads were stripped during installation. I put everything back together and as a last ditch effort I ran half CLR and half distilled water thru the steamer on either the 2nd or 3rd try a burst of steam came out. On the third try out. I continued to do this till clear fluid and steam came out. I than ran straight distilled water thru to make sure the machine was clear. Machine works perfect now.

So this video helped me fix a bad connection on the pump of a brand new PureSteam ThermaPro 211. It was dead on arrival. Warranty sent out a new working unit but did not want the defective unit back. So, I took it apart! Not having a clue what I was doing, I found this video and isolated a bad connection to the pump. I fixed the connection, only because of this video. The mop now works good as new and I only received one minor burn as a result of fixing the connection. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with people who want to fix their own stuff. 8^)

Thank you for this video. I had the toughest time with the 6 screws on the heating thing. It was a white rock inside. I would've liked the video to wrap up with you assembling it back together. I had to watch this 10x from the beginning to work it back and finally got it. Thanks again... PS. I think it worked, just need distilled water now.
