Hello teacher. Is it a must to remove the CPU to isolate the motherboard when testing for the B+, 3.3v, 5v circuits? And if so, which method do you use to remove the CPU? Many thanks and much appreciation to you sir for your hard work and determination to teach your expertise.

Hi sir I have a blown Rb491d shotky diode is there any way to bypass this or use another diode
@electronicsrepairbasics_erb4 ай бұрын
Substitute with Equivalent Diode: You can replace the RB491D with another Schottky diode that has similar specifications. Check the voltage rating and current capacity to find a suitable replacement. The RB491D typically has a forward voltage of around 0.2V and a current rating of 1A, so look for a Schottky diode with similar values (e.g., 1N5819 or SS14 as alternatives). Bypass (Not Recommended): Bypassing the diode is not recommended as it serves a specific purpose in regulating current or protecting the circuit. Without the diode, you risk damaging other components

as a beginner, i'm trying to repair a motherboard, asus h110m-d, dead looking for the a schematics to ease the troubleshooting, most of the terminal in the atx jack is shorted, i dont know where to begin...
@electronicsrepairbasics_erb4 ай бұрын
As a beginner, you're on the right track by looking for the schematics! For the ASUS H110M-D, if most terminals in the ATX jack are shorted, I recommend starting by checking the 12V, 5V, and 3.3V rails for any obvious shorts. Disconnect all peripherals and components, like the RAM and CPU, to isolate the motherboard. Then, using a multimeter in continuity mode, check each power rail for shorts to ground. Often, a faulty capacitor or MOSFET might be the cause. If you don’t have the schematics, you can search for common circuit layouts online or use a similar model’s schematics as a reference. Good luck, and feel free to ask if you need more help

In case +3V or +5V is missing how can you fix it. Thanks 🙏
@electronicsrepairbasics_erb4 ай бұрын
If the +3V or +5V is missing, here’s a systematic approach to diagnose and fix the issue: Check Power Supply: Ensure the power supply is functioning correctly. Use a multimeter to measure the output of the power supply and verify that it is providing the correct voltage B+. Inspect Voltage Regulators: check if they are operating properly. A faulty regulator could cause the absence of voltage. Replace any damaged voltage regulator ICs. Examine Capacitors and Diodes: Look for blown or damaged capacitors, particularly near the power supply section. Faulty capacitors can lead to power loss. Check diodes in the rectifier circuit (if applicable) to ensure they aren't shorted or open. Trace the Circuit Path: Use a schematic diagram to trace the power supply circuit from the source to the affected area. Check continuity with a multimeter to find where the voltage drop occurs. Check for Short Circuits: Look for any short circuits or burnt components that could be pulling down the voltage. This may include checking MOSFETs or transistors that are connected to the power line. Inspect Connectors and Solder Joints: Ensure that connectors and solder joints are intact and not loose or cold-soldered. Reflow or resolder joints if necessary. Replace Faulty Components: If individual components like resistors, diodes, or ICs are identified as faulty, replace them with appropriate equivalents. By following this methodical troubleshooting approach, you should be able to locate and fix the issue causing the missing +3V or +5V.

If we don't don't have 19 volt in the 3.3 and 5 always inductor. What shall we do??? Please help
@electronicsrepairbasics_erb4 ай бұрын
If you're not getting 19V in the 3.3V and 5V Always circuits, first check for any shorts on the input side of the power rail. Then, verify that the DC-in MOSFETs are working correctly and passing the voltage through. If there's no issue there, check the fuse, capacitors, and other components in the power path. You can also inspect the charging IC, as it controls the power distribution. Make sure the power adapter is functioning properly as well. If all these components check out, it may be necessary to trace the signal and test individual components further. Hope this helps!

Boss please,i have hp laptop is turning on, but no display and the fan spin like two seconds and stop
@electronicsrepairbasics_erb4 ай бұрын
Hi there, Here are some steps you can try: Check the Power Supply: Ensure the laptop is properly connected to a working power source. Perform a Hard Reset: Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if possible), and hold down the power button for about 15-30 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter and try turning the laptop on again. Inspect RAM: Sometimes, loose or faulty RAM can cause display issues. Try reseating the RAM modules or testing with different RAM sticks if available. Check for External Display: Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if the issue is with the laptop's screen. Examine the Laptop’s Components: Look for loose cables or components inside the laptop. If you’re comfortable doing so, you can open the laptop to check. Feel free to update me on your progress or if you have any further questions! Good luck
