Shorting the data pins cures the charging problem, but what about data transfer with a PC through this port afterwards?

Thanks for the video What are the readings of the data pins on diode mode on the multimeter

Didn't expect a mention :) Thank you! I guess Yt only gives notifications over phones. Can I ask for two things please? O:) 1) can you explain a bit more on using diode mode (when and how)? I've seen that in few of your videos 2) can you please give some closeups on opening tablets (where to start, hints and tools)? Don't know what were temps yesterday (I didn't check) but at 3 AM it's 18 C. Expected temp today during the day is 31 C.

After that type "fix", you can not connect it anymore with computer or car, this port can be used only for charging.

I was going to try this as it is quite brilliant. So I went to get all the tools together I saw an old toothbrush. I thought, I'll give it a try. And BOOM!! Charging. Always try the simple stuff first ;-)

I am happy I discovered your videos.Thanks a lot for them!. But can you please explain this hack ( using data pins for charging?).Thanks
@electronicsrepairschool7 жыл бұрын
its no hack, thats how the charging its working
@ladbla17527 жыл бұрын
But if I understood well, that works if a charger uses data pins only.If in a charger data pins are soldered together then soldering of data pins on the mainboard does not make any sense. Is it so?

noo, u get this wrong. I will make a video this days about this to clarify this

Watching this video on the same tablet! Also have another hudl 2 that's broken. It got sent back to Tesco as it was dead and came back alive but now it keeps randomly resetting...
@electronicsrepairschool7 жыл бұрын
try and restore it

Electronics repair school thanks for the reply, I have tried erasing and restoring it many times through both the option in system settings and via the android boot menu. The battery seems stable and it will sit in standby for days but as soon as I wake it and try using it for anything it won't be long before it just resets by itself. Sometimes it gets stuck in a boot loop if it resets too much while starting up but this can be cured by disconnecting the battery for a minute. I know a easy fix would probably be to just replace the motherboard but I haven't found one at a decent price and guaranteed to work. It's a shame cos it's actually a really good tablet and even though it is now a couple of years old my working one still performs everything I need it to do at a decent speed every day.

well, its weird. So. in standby is not restarting but soon as the screen comes on will do. For me sound like when the motherboard need more power is restarting. Try and see if with a fully charge battery its still doing or when its connected with the charger
@DJFace1477 жыл бұрын
Electronics repair school It still does it when connected to the charger but I could do another test once it's at 100%. I suppose some power is getting drawn by the charging circuit otherwise. I will report back after. Thanks again for your help with this, would be great if I can find the fault so that I simply don't have to replace the mainboarrd.

Ok it still definitely has the problem even when fully charged. Perhaps it might help if I explain how the tablet died which resulted in in getting sent back to Tesco.. One day my son plugged it in to the charger to recharge it and there was a popping noise and then that's it, it was dead and would not charge or do anything. I guessed they replaced an internal fuse or something but could there be something else related to it? Like I said it was returned and now appears to work normally other than the constant random reboots lol

could you short the data lines from battery connector on motherboard the ones on micro usb port look tiny?
