Nice one, Sorin! Two things: 1) Your advices for batteries are even valid for cars. On the manual of my wife's Volto EX30, they ask for, from time to time, allowing the battery to discharge in order for the internal computer to collect data to correctly calculate the battery charge (and autonomy, of course). 2) *Please*, never use a blade forcing the cutting face in the direction of your hands, like you did at 12:55. It's very easy to get injured like that! Rotate the laptop and cut it in the direction away from you :)

Working on one of these similar. No 3.3v. no short on coil. The short seems to be between the gate driver and the pos output of ic. Ordered ic. And will play more later.i see a lot of your repairs are a simple current injection to find shorts. I hardly get them..always more difficult hard to find signal issues. One before was no pic, but ended up being flexes fed into lcd glass. I can never win.

good day mr. So next time maybe the power managment chip tries to fry the fuse and it might fail!!!? what will happen to the battery burn or blow up ?
@hansregli867821 күн бұрын
Thought the same. But we know Sorin on his "dodgy repair channel" will not replace that fuse with a new one. But with this amount of solder on top of this "properly calibrated fuse" (in his words) will not be able to burn out the next time. If the next time is for real this could result in a fire or explosion. Not a happy customer.

@namdoyleАй бұрын
is something wrong that cause the fuse burn ???
@ChibiKeruchanАй бұрын
14:34 never saw such fuse before. but base from his explanation. it is "self destruct" fuse. if the BMS circuit (Battery Management system) figured that the battery is in bad health. it will power the heater below it and melt the fuse. This is perfect if it does the job right. specially on EV cars and motorcycles. but in this video, like he said, the BMS made a bad call. coz it has only 86 cycle. The last time I heard such kind of system that feels like a planed obsolescence are on the printer cartridge. it record how much print you do. and if it reach a certain print it stop printing and ask that you change cartridge 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@kiki83607Ай бұрын
still condition of the battery is poor, 86 cycles doesn't matter if the battery is made from cheap poor quality lithium

I have two questions. Q1 = I have a patient, an Asus laptop, its battery is no longer working and is removed already, so it only runs on its charger, which is also an Asus, and has a voltage output of 19.32v. Now I want to run it on our solar power system, so I cut the wire of that Asus charger so that the plug remains the same, then I connected the wire to my boost converter, dialed to exact 19.32v volts, the same as the Asus charger's voltage output. But it didn't work. The charger cable only has two lines, one for ground and the other one is the positive line. I didn't see any extra line(third line) that can be used by the charger and the laptop for them to communicate and be able to recognize if what is plugged in a dedicated Asus charger or not. I am confused why it didn't work with the boost converter, since that boost converter is 300 watts, enough to provide power, and it is also the same boost converter that I use with my other laptop like my Acer Aspire, which works perfectly fine. Q2 = The same asus laptop turns on automatically whenever I plug the charger. But the weird thing is, every time I plug the charger, the laptop turns on for a very short moment, enough to display the Asus logo, then shuts down again before the windows opens then restarts automatically and then it is finally open. I hope you shed some light on this issue and I really appreciate your help and your amazing tutorials. God bless.

never seen a fuse like that. it feels like something that can be abused for planed obsolescence like how they do on ink cartridge asking you to change if it reach certain number of prints. but I can understand the need for such self destruct fuse on batteries coz lithium batteries are dangerous. specially on EV's I hope they don't apply this shit on Vacuum robots too and the likes.
@g4z-kb7ctАй бұрын
Yes the same thing applies to vacuum cleaners etc. Dyson is known for that.... setting flag in microcontroller eeprom and after that no charging. Changing the cells makes no difference, still non-working. To re-set it requires jtag programmer. For Dyson it is easier to buy chininse copy battery. For the price of original battery I can buy 4x copies and they last at least as long (4 years). If it fails in 4 years just buy another one for 25-30 bucks vs $100 or more for original.
