After playing around with docker and VMs on my UGreen DXP8800 Plus some time ago, I’ve come to the conclusion that neither application can access external storage (USB stick, USB HDD, Thunderbolt storage etc) despite there being settings for it. UGreen tech support stated that they were working on such support but I haven’t tested the last few UGOS Pro releases.

I wish UGreen made a rack mount 8 bay NAS

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to run PBS as a VM on an SSD volume and include an HDD volume as data storage? I could not find a way to make another volume available to the VM.

Yea it should be possible to do this coming and it what I’d suggest. I think you can pick the storage volume when making a virtual disk but I don’t have the ui in front of me now.

Have you tried doing a restore from this device? I did a restore from spinning disks last night and it was very, very slow. Everything I am reading is telling me PBS should only be used with SSD/NVMe.

Let me try restore speed in a bit. I have done restores on a single disk PBS system at about 50mB/s. So not the fastest but I’d say usable.

Any chance you could do a Windows 11 install and test? I've tried installing but the performance is atrocious. You're an expert and so would be useful to see if you get the same results.

Let me try that soon. Often when I see the performance is slow with Windows its due to the poor virtual GPU performance in qemu/KVM.

Cunfused, is it a backup or not. Your using while calling it a backup lol😅

I think the VM of PBS counts as a backup as its a seperate copy of the VMs running on my Proxmox VE system with versions and other features. I see how it can be kinda confusing as I was making a VM to backup VMs on a different box in the video.
