Wow. Now that I’ve actually finished it, incredible job man! You really went all out. I loved use of the blue paint and epoxy, especially you showing your different ratios for the blue on 3D printed squares. Definitely going to try that! Also the mother of Pearl inlays, super nice. Really cool to see you use other crafts methods in this project.

Gorgeous, as always. I recently went to Munich for holiday and purchased the copper paint you used and brought it back for testing. The results with that paint really can't be under-emphasized - It's by far the easiest to use conductive paint I've encountered or managed to make. It's a shame Tifoo doesn't ship outside of Germany, it shames every conductive paint I've ever bought for testing here in the states.

Hey, if you run your prints under hot water the supports will be much easier to remove and the results are much cleaner as well. Also would you have a cross section that shows the thickness of the metal that gets adhered to one of your prints, I'd like to see a sample of the finished results of how much metal sticks to a print. Again, another job well done!!!💯🔥

When you electroplate with copper do you need to use a brightening solution or can you just make your own aqueous copper
@WariceHimSelf
@WariceHimSelf Жыл бұрын
you don't need a brightening solution, but it's highly recommended. Without a brightener, your piece will come out dull and will need a lot more polishing, although there is a process called 'electropolishing', where you place your part in phosphoric acid, and apply voltage to polish your part. Electropolishing is more expensive that just buying a brightener, but it'll give your part a good shine. here is a video on making your own aqueous copper solution: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2bNg6SQntWhf7c and here is a video on electropolishing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3mpe4eVqMtgjZI

Hey, thank you very much for linking the items you use in the description, however none of them I can order in the U.S. Are there any other products that you know of that I could order in the States or could I possibly find them at local hardware stores maybe? I don't know exactly what specifications I should be looking for when shopping for these things. For instance, if there's some kind of electrolyte or varnish I should be avoiding because it won't work as well for electroplating.

I wonder whether it is possible to plate thick enough in order to cut threads into the material and have a gas tight connection. I would love to print lab bottle lids, plate them, and then cut two 1/4-28 UNF threads to connect to capillary columns. Normal 3D prints have way too many little air channels to make this work, even at 100% infill. Plating should be gas tight? Plate after thread cutting?
@hen3drik
@hen3drik Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. Even with 100% infill, it's not fully solid, and I often face the issue of electrolyte seeping out from the cracks hours later, ruining the finish. It only works if you coat it really thick. However, using resin is a better option.
