What a great video, thank you!

Being in IT i am excited for a computer. However, it brings me a ton of joy to build something physically which I think my generation has lost. We were taught of right and wrong ways to do things which in my younger years stopped me from trying engineering out. Now? If it breaks I learn how to do it better next time. Awesome video! and hopefully this will get some of the younger generation to start physically messing with stuff again. Every video helps.

Thank you. Breaking things to pieces was my initial learning step 😂

Wow, I never knew it was this easy to do! Thank you for making it funny too. I laughed at some parts of the video.

Thank you for this video. I have a question it would be so kind of you to reply. I tried gold plating a ring in copper. As anode, I used a spoon stainless steel ( I'm not sure, it changed color badly after the process!) my ring is almost golden now but it is not shiny it's like brass ! Is that normal?
@MrYazdan2 ай бұрын
I guess because it's a thin layer of gold. Also might look shinier, if you gently wash it with a mild detergent and light polish it with a microfiber.

Thank you! I love this method, I will use it for my handmade jewelry! How would happen to the stones if put in the solution too?
@MrYazdan3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I don't think stones can conduct electricity unless you're thinking something else.

@@MrYazdan Thanks for your answer, no, I mean if the stones could be damaged or plated in some way
@MrYazdan3 жыл бұрын
@@paola33080 Yes you can apply conductive paint on the stone before electroplating.

@@MrYazdan so if I want the stone to stay as is... it should remain if I put nothing... thanks

0:12 Right, electroplating at home only makes sense when it is gold.

Interesting video. Thanks. I have a question. It is: how to get matte (rough) surface by doing electroplating (zinc plating or copper plating). I have an aluminium roller. I need to zinc or any other metal plating on it with rough (matte) surface. Please help me..Thanks
@MrYazdan3 жыл бұрын
Have you tried to sandpaper the roller to make the surface rough before electroplating? Also, I've heard that if anode is not clean, the finishing will be matte or rough. Haven't tried any of them myself.
@johnwild3103 жыл бұрын
Maybe try Anodising it instead of plating. Maybe knurl the roller on a lathe before Anodising. That would give a very rough hard surface.
@lenasajadifar69673 ай бұрын
I used a coffee spoon (IKEA) as anode the result is really really matte

Fantastic

I believe the metal under the copper penny coating is zinc. Definitely ;)
@MrYazdan4 жыл бұрын
Yes mostly zinc but has iron too, therefore magnetic 😉

What is the name of the liquid? And where did you get it please as i need to Electroplating the car exhaust with gold or silver color. Thank you
@MrYazdan3 жыл бұрын
That's copper sulphate solution. For your purpose, you need silver or gold electroplating solution, which you can easily find them on eBay, Amazon or other online shops.

Thank you for this video! Im wondering if it’s possible to electroplate gold over silver?
@MrYazdan Жыл бұрын
Yes, but don't sell it as gold 😂

I have a question! I am trying to electroplated/electroform with a mixture of copper sulfate and epsom salts. The material has been in the solution for 48hrs and is turned blue, not copper. Please help! Is this because of the salt I added?
@MrYazdan3 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the Epsom salt but definitely don't leave it for long time. Ideal time for electroplating is 20-30 minutes, maximum 1 hour in some cases. Also keep the voltage between 2V-6V. 6V is ideal. Hope this helps.
@tashspond3 жыл бұрын
@@MrYazdan on a rectifier is that 2.0v? Or 0.02v? I think I'm gonna ditch the salt. Thank you so much for the help!
