Excellent work. These are the best I've seen out there. You seem to have great control over the direction the electricity travels. Very inspirational.

Awesome work, do you paint the wood before or after the burning?

Beautiful work. I ordered a * 6,000 volts / 6kV (5kV RMS) NEON SIGN TRANSFORMER POWER SUPPLY from Ebay and it didn't work for fractal burning... any idea why? I'm not sure whats wrong...
@marknoll69877 жыл бұрын
with the neon transformers you will get more detail but may need to experiment with the solutions and woods

New to your page like your work could you tell me do you poly over the piece to give it gloss? If not what do you seal it with?
@aarondraper18187 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I do have a MOT, but am a bit wary of using this. Shall look into some other type of transformer as you mentioned in other comments. Cheers.

Arthur Brown I have a few transformers , microwave and neon sign. it depends on the wood, the size and detail I want

SUPER!!! Write, please, what device was used in Your art!!?? And how is it to make portable contacts! Thank you:))
@hacademicabel8 жыл бұрын
you can use any transformer with an output of over 1KV. I found microwave transformers work perfectly for this. just coat the wood with some water and baking soda, apply voltage, and don't let yourself be part of the circuit.
@ТолькоНебо8 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the answer! A painting of a tree before or after??

everybody, just know this is extremely dangerous. elecrical background is recommended. 2000 volt near 3 amps could kill you promptly. never do alone if you must try. 911 on speed dial.
@aarondraper18187 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking of trying this with my welder on low amps. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?? Never seen using a welder on any other channel!
@aarondraper18187 жыл бұрын
Well, I think I just answered my own question. No luck!! Obviously not high enough voltage?? Surely it has nothing to do wether it's AC or DC..
@marknoll69877 жыл бұрын
never tried a welder/ I am using AC
@babypoplink62882 жыл бұрын
going to try mine since it has Tig dead man, voltage High enough if you can go over 35 amps.... running a 220 box plus100% Duty Cycle good fun trial since no cheap metal for fun scultp.

What type of transformer do you use? Neon light? Microwave? Do you use a veriac?
@marknoll69877 жыл бұрын
Dennis Andrews I have several steps up transformers. the neon are safer, they are current limited. I have 2kv 4kv 6kv x formers from klystrons and other applications including microwave. these can kill you!!

what type of water mixture do you use??
@fdc3137 жыл бұрын
As fast as the patterns are being made I assume you are using a microwave transformer, the neons burn much slower.

Maple works well. Some woods are too soft and burn. Others like oak with open grain do not work well. Oily woods do not work as well either
