EVERSE Series Training - Replacing the Battery

EV- bought an Everse 12 from guitar center, day one of owning it and it will not charge or turn on. Pretty upset about this

Why? Power cord plugs into the back of the speaker

The question is, can I use it without the battery (in order to save battery life) and when it's required, install again the battery and use it just with the battery?
