Aussie Hip Hop is smashing it at the moment. The glory days have been going strong for a decade now, ever since An Elefant Never Forgets and The Calling was released. Hopefully it can push another decade

I read something about the 'golden age' (possibly through HTH) but it detailed that for some it started back in the 80's and ended before HTH and for others it didn't start until the late 90's. The golden age is whenever you enjoy the music the most. The most important thing to promote this is to keep your mind open to the new albums

i must disagree as well sir, if i was to play a vents track, a funkoars, a hilltop, a drapht, horrorshow, spit syndicate or purpose i might find stylistic similarities on some tracks but not the same thing and i don't see them heading that way. most australian hiphop has heavy focus on the music and the lyrics are usually focused on unique flows and rhymes centered on storytelling. when they collaborate it demonstrates their skill in adapting and meshing but they remain unique and ever changing

At times it is not an artists fault for getting big because they have made dope album after dope album. They have gotten big because of one person passing along the artists name to his friends, and that friends friend.

It's a good clip, adit looks really awkward though. Would've loved it more if he got more time in the spotlight, or simply not appear. If you don't know horrorshow you'd probably be wondering over this guy lurking in the background :)

Taking that logic, essentially all music is a stuck record then given a certain period of time
@TheOrfordonian11 жыл бұрын
Are they really the only two options? I think Aussie hip-hop should be reaching much broader than what Hilltop and BnE are doing. They were some of the founding figures in the genre but we need a real shake up from younger artists. Otherwise Aussie hip-hop will just be another passing fad (if it isn't already).
@DylboBaggins11 жыл бұрын
Yeah what's with adit walking around? Perhaps there was some deeper meaning behind it but it didn't convey very well..

Um.. if I recall, Bliss N Eso's latest album seem pretty different to me man... Same goes with Hilltop. Overall, is it really that bad to talk about life and positive things or bring awareness to our worlds problems than write about hoes, cars, guns, and drugs? Take your pick.

a passing fad? please explain to me how aussie hiphop needs to "shake up"? its clearly at its strongest point and can only grow from here. jump on triple j unearthed and support the up and comers if your'e doubting it
