I never got a chance to show him my favorite rapper or this perfect song. He committed suicide on Sept. 16, 2016. He was the first concert I went to alone 🥰 I used my crutches and stood in the front row for 2 hours watching the man who pulled me from so many depressive episodes rap his heart out, we had a few laughs as an audience, frankly when I threw up outside at the end of the show because my pain had shot through the roof by the end of it, I didn't even fucking care, I was in bliss. Hell, no one outside cared either, just thought I had one too many beers. It was possibly one of the best experiences I've ever had as a lone adult. Only regret is not trying to pull myself together for one last hoorah, even though I was at a 10 on the pain scale and could barely use my legs, and go to the back to smoke with the opening acts and potentially the man himself. But the concert itself was absolute magic for me. I watched him sing What it Dew and scream-sang every word, he started to sing Sunny Side of Hell (which was how I originally found him, in the midst of a very bad depressive episode) and I squealed so loud the first few minutes I'm fairly certain he was singing at me (not just a big headed fan thing, we locked eyes, it was a small venue, he saw who squealed and pin pointed me) all in all, if the world ever goes back to small venue shows, I'll be front row again.
