Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Today, I am going to review the latest Neptune 3 Pro and Plus printers. These two machines are pretty much identical. The print volume of the Pro is 225x225x280, and the retail price is $230. The Plus has a larger print volume of 320x320x400 and is priced at $350. There is also a MAX version, which has a print volume of 420x420x500 and is priced at $470.
This pricing seems pretty aggressive, so let's take a look at the hardware of these printers. First, they use a direct drive extruder. In terms of the extruder design, it's pretty similar to the Ender-3 S1 series and uses a bond tech clone dual-gear extruder. They have a dual Z-axis with a timing belt and use an inductive auto bed leveling sensor. The print surface is a textured PEI spring steel sheet. They come with a 4.3" capacitive touch screen, as well as all of the mid-range printer upgrades, such as LED lights, belt tensioners, filament sensors, 32-bit boards with STM chips, silent stepper drivers on all axes, and clean cable management. With all this hardware for a super low price, the price value is amazing.
In addition to testing the normal printing speed, I will also experiment with increased print speeds, ranging from 120 to 250mm/s, and also increasing the acceleration to 3000mm/s². Furthermore, I will also compare the performance and print quality of the Klipper firmware with the stock Marlin firmware by connecting the machines to a Creality Sonic pad. I am very excited to explore these features and share my results in this video. I would like to thank Elegoo for sending me these machines to review and Creality for supplying the Sonic pad to me in this video, and with that, let's get started.

@@BabyJesus66 i had the Ender 3 Pro. Hot garbage. Avoid Creality, their customer service is nonexistent and the Ender 3 is OLD tech. By the time you have upgraded everything to the specs of this Neptune 3 Pro, you're spending WAY more than even the Creality S1 Pro. I repurposed the 5 year E3P to recycle soda bottles into filament (Recreator 3D). The Neptune 3 Plus I have now is leaps better. I upgraded to an all metal hotend, CHT clone nozzle, copper heat block, higher temp thermistor for less than $20 bucks. Elegoo is an AMAZING printer. Bambu Lab was on my radar but still too new. This N3+ and Klipper upgrade delay the purchase even longer untill more Bambu competition show up. Hopefully Elegoo is working on one too.

Thanks a lot, I learned quite a bit - as usual! For example that you can get pretty impressive high speed prints with Klipper on a delrin wheel printer if you have enough part cooling power and you calibrate for vibration first. That's no something I've seen elsewhere. Elegoo looks nice.

So glad you have added the 3 Pro and 3 Plus to your reviews. I totally agree that Elegoo has done an amazing job. I started with a 3 but quickly shifted to a 3 Pro and have not looked back. My existing 3Pro is a star as are your reviews all of "star quality" about which I frequently comment. I have to wait for stock to return for both a 3 Pro (donating it to local maker space group) and a 3 Plus which I will convert to either a Volcano hot end or the multi-cavity nozzle to up printing speed. I hope you tackle an improved hot end approach to aid others in this work using the 3 Plus as the printer. Thanks for the addition of the Klipper - Creality Sonic Pad in your review - A must addition for my plans for a fast 3 Plus.

That nylon test is really fascinating...I've shied away from printing nylon because I've felt that even a small area where the filament is exposed to atmosphere would be enough to cause moisture problems. You've got a couple feet of the filament path open to air and that wrench prints beautifully. I might need to dust off the various nylon samples I've accumulated over the years and give them a closer look. Anyway, I can see why so many people are raving about the Neptune 3 Pro - it seems to be the complete package, particularly for people who are on a budget and don't want to spend a lot of time tinkering or troubleshooting. The value of the Plus really stands out, too, as I felt like I got my Artillery Sidewinder X1 for an absolute steal from Gearbest in August 2020 for $359 and the Plus looks to be superior to the X1 in most ways...and sells for $30 less than what I paid for the X1, which was $60 less than what the X1's going rate was on Amazon back then and a whopping $130 less than what the SWX2 is selling for right now. I also love your auxiliary cooling fan setup. I wonder if these kinds of fans will become more popular among modders or in new printers released over the next year or two, given the success of the aux cooling fan on the Bambu Lab printers. And every video I see with the Creality Sonic Pad makes me want to get one more. Creality's dominance in the budget printer market is certainly being threatened with solid offerings from Sovol and Elegoo, but as long as printer manufacturers shy away from Klipper they will have a chance at getting their products into even more homes and businesses with how easy and powerful the Sonic Pad is. Great review, as always!

Thanks for the help. I just picked one of these up yesterday after I just couldn't get a Raspberry Pi up and running. I used your files and it connected. It worked a few times and then the extruder started to go to the back right side of the bed after it laid the first line on the left side of the bed. I don't understand the codes at all. I figured the printer.cfg file was telling the extruder that it need to go there. I looked into the file and finally noticed the measurements were 235, 235, and 280. I fixed it to 225, 225, and 280, which seemed to work. I updated the Sonic pad; this could have been the cause, but I think it was happening before. I can not seem to get the camera to capture video/time lapses. The camera seems to work fine to monitor the printer but I an hoping to figure this out too. Again thanks for the help.

Ok ,please review the privacy policies that go along with these 3d printers, especially the ip, and browser information the companies share with third parties and governments(apon request). Connection to your cell phone also means that you are being tracked. Your reviews are wonderfully thorough, a criticle review of the "fine print" should also be done on these printers. Tks.

Great review. I've been looking at the Neptune 3 Plus & Max as I need a larger print size than my Ender 3 S1 Pro. You have sold me on the Neptune 3 Plus. I have also been thinking about using the Sonic Pad with my printers, I'll give that a try too. Thanks for the review. I was wondering, did you try the Plus at 250mm/s? If so, how did it perform? Also, do these faster speeds work well with PET-G using the Sonic Pad. Anyways, great review. You've given me lots to think about. Thanks

Thanks for the wonderful tutorial video. My question: Is there anything piece of code/configuration I need to remove from the printer.cfg file if I am not using Sonic Pad?

Will you test the Sovol SV06 Plus? It's just a tad bit smaller than the Neptune Plus but similar price range.

Hi, I am looking at the plus as a possible upgrade to my current printer. Can you tell me how wide the printer is without the screen attached on the side? Elegoo says its 533mm wide but is that with or without the screen. Thanks

@Aurora Tech without klipper only using the stock firmware can this achieve the 120 mm/s speeds and quality as in your video? (i understand input shaping calibration is not possible with the stock firmware)

I was wondering if one could use the USB port to attach a multi-reader which would accept a USB thumb drive. That way no micro SD card required.

Great Video, will try it. One question, how you bring the printer back to stock firmware? Only flashing the newest firmware from github?
