Wife and I (early 30s) got stuck with the leveling process. Accidentally made the nozzle too close to the bed. We appreciate your videos and the time you take to go through each step! Looking forward to more content.

I got my Neptune 4 and LOVE it! It is really a nice printer and easy to use. And with Klipper and network access, it makes a huge difference with printing without using USB drives or SD cards.

What a breath of fresh air. I was looking at this printer as an upgrade from my ender 3 since I really started to find it very slow. Whenever I looked online so many reviews were either hastily done or just purely pessimistic. After have watched this video and the "after 200 hours" video I was confident that this printer would be a good upgrade for me, and I was right! I got mine yesterday and it's awesome. Can't wait to print more stuff! You definitely earned a sub from me. Thanks for taking the time to make this and the other videos, they're all excellent.

Thanks Ben, this is a useful video. In particular, I found your instructions for levelling were easier to follow than the maker's video. I don't know why, but the sound of your voice seemed to trail off towards the end of a few sentences. Perhaps your young ears can hear it clearly, but my older ears struggle occasionally. Also, sometimes you would do something to the printer display so quickly that I could not work out what you had done without multiple replays. I remain impressed though and am about to look for the other videos you said you might do and hopefully have. Well done.

Not gonna lie, one of my favorite features of the Nep 4 is the USB slot instead of that stinking microSD slot. As I get older, stuff gets smaller and harder for me to see and handle. The fast printing and stuff is just a nice bonus 😁
@BenMyhillJones
@BenMyhillJones Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the USB stick is a very overlooked feature. Not just for the printer but also slicing on the computer, having it all in one package is super handy!

Hi Ben. First of all thank you for the great video. I really loved how you showed us the initial process of assembly and leveling of the printer. I am looking forward to receive mine in some days and start in the 3D printing world, as I work with regular printers and I want to expand my knowledge with the 3D version of them. I have couple questions regarding the use of the grease and the noise. We saw on the video you used it in the rails where the bearings move but not on the Z Axis rail. Is there a particular reason? About the noise, you mention the airflow of the Silent mode is sufficient but also we could see the bed was hot when you retrieved the test print. Would you recommend it to use overnight or while working from home? Again thank you very much for this awesome video! Keep up with the great work 😊

Thanks! I am glad you found it useful. I added grease (a bit too much) to the X and Y axis because they use linear rods, unlike most other 3d printers that use rubber belts and wheels. Because the toolhead and bed move quite quickly across the rails, and use metal on metal, the metal wheels need to be lubricated as not to cause damage through grinding and friction. The Z axis does need to be lubricated, just not as often, because it uses a screw and travels much slower compared to the other axes, it needs it less. You should clean and grease the z axis leadscrews around once every 3 months (there are plenty of videos documenting this. The large part cooling fan located on the back of the X axis is not mandatory, because the printer has two part cooling fans located in the toolhead which help cool the plastic. If you are printing something with lots of details or overhangs, using the large fan on the back will increase print quality significantly. Without the use of fans, a print will be stronger, because each layer is more fused together. With lots of cooling, the print will look much nicer, but will not have as good layer adhesion (still good for almost everything). It all comes down to the specific print. The bed is supposed to remain hot throughout the entire printing process, it helps keep the filament stuck to the bed, if the bed was cold then as the filament cooled it would shrink slightly and cause warping around the corners which can lead to print failure. In regards to printing at night or when you are around it, the answer is, it depends. I would stay far away from filaments like ABS, ASA and nylon when printing without extensive ventilation. When printing PLA, it still emits VOCs when printing, so cracking open a window and ventilating air out is recommended. I would not sleep with it running or spend many hours next to it without ventilation or some kind of filter. If it is in another room while you sleep it doesn't really matter as long as the sound doesn't bother you. Good luck with your 3D printer!

@@BenMyhillJones Awesome mate! Thank you very much for the explanation. I believe in the future I will have a small cabinet to place it inside, and maybe (depends on cost) soundproofing it a bit. About the maintenance, for sure will take a good care. Thanks a lot again for the video and the quick answer! Happy New Year and best wishes to you and your people!

Hi Ben, great video! Three questions for you (if you have time to answer of course): 1) The Neptune 3 Pro is available for $209 and the Neptune 4 Pro is available for $259...are the differences enough to buy the Neptune 4? 2) The bed leveling system seems to be different between the two...which is more automated or better? 3) Finally, will you be doing a Neptune 3 Pro video or a video about Neptune 4 versus Neptune Pro 3 video? Thanks again for a great video!

I heard that the x and y axis are misaligned on all Neptune 4 series by 2%, which is a lot... no fixable solution for it. In other words, if a circle or cylinder is printed...it will not be round...instead it will be slightly oval. This becomes a problem when making items that have round gears printed within an item. How true is this and is there a fix for this on the Neptune 4 series?

Hi bro, i really wanna buy this printer but i have some doubts. Have you any problems with this printer? I have ender3 s1 but its too slow for me.
@BenMyhillJones
@BenMyhillJones Жыл бұрын
My first printer was an Ender 3 V2, and I can certainly relate to the slow speeds. From what I have found it is a very good printer for the price, if you value speed. There are so many quality of life improvements and I have not had to troubleshoot anything, I set it up and it has worked flawlessly. That being said, it is incredibly loud, even when the fans are off. This goes for any high speed printer. There certainly is a trade off with the high speeds. I have also found that at much higher speeds (upwards of 250mm/s) the print quality has deteriorated slightly. For functional prints, it works great at high speeds. When turned down to slower speeds (between 150 and 200mm/s) print quality has been amazing, better than that of my Neptune 3 Pro. It is a very capable machine, and when tuned more it can deliver incredible results at fast speeds. It is still very capable at higher speeds and the print quality at 350mm/s is still better than what I could ever get on my Ender 3V2.

That is definitely one of my biggest complaints, Not being able to print anything abrasive long term is not great. I did find some 3rd party sellers that make hardened steel nozzles, and hardened steel CHT nozzles. I ordered some and will be testing them soon.
@BenMyhillJones
@BenMyhillJones Жыл бұрын
@@BasOlthoff I purchased a variety off of a seller on Aliexpress, there are two main ones. They are probably pretty similar in quality, and for me the quality has been really good. The CHT nozzles are also worth a try. Just search for Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro nozzles and you should see a few results.

I cannot believe that ELEGOO release what appears to be a brilliant machine and yet still being fitted with these ridiculous and useless POM wheels and WORSE - the bed adjusting wheels and springs !!! What does it take for ELEGOO to recognise the far more beneficial use of Linear Rails and a fixed bed and sure, charge us a few dollars more but make us - the people who pay your wages - more likely to buy your products !!!!
