Still relevant after all these years. At that time I had the Octatrack mk1 and sold it much too early. This magic inspiring machine(and your clip) won't let me go. So I have now bought the mk2(used). Now I have a sampler and a Synthesizer in one machine. The single cycle waves are comparable with osc-waves of synthesizers. And you can load nearly unlimited of it on the octatrack. In combination with the all envelopes, lfo's and the filter, I see no difference to a Synthesizer - this and the advantage of a sampler... I will never sell it again. Thanks for uploading this great tutorial !!!

Hi, you can send program changes from the Midi tracks. Make sure u select the correct Midi CH, bank and program... Also make sure your menu MIDI settings is set to send Prog changes and any other data you want to send. so I follow the instruction but once I get out of the flex it seems to go back to static when i exit the menu, sorry I'm beginner. how can i transfer all your samples to the internal memory of the machine? bought that octatrack second hand and they have wiped the memory so i never managed to use the flex machine so far, if you had a tutorial showing how to reset the machine to factory settings with the internal samples and where to find them, you would have many hits. After going through the forums it seems like many people have the same problem. I e-mailed Elektron about it and searched their site but really nothing there, and they did not reply yet. thank you for your help anyway.
@MULTIMAN-MUSIC10 жыл бұрын
Hello Music is a secret. I don´t know really what your problem is. Flex machines must be able to be used the same than static one. Is just a different way of managing the audio samples. If you are a begginer, make sure you read the whole manual a couple of times in order to learn the devices structure. Loading samples is very simple, either plug the CFlash card on the computer, or connect the Octatrack using the USB, then drag and drop your sample folder in to the "Audio" folder within your project. The factory content samples should be available in the download section, make sure you create an account and can access those sounds, plus many other Free Sample Packs ready available. Hope it helps, cheers, Julian.
@RusticRaver10 жыл бұрын
thanks Julian for that precision, great advice , I read the manual once but sounded a bit chinese to me, not got good notion of what they call synthesis neither I guess. but I'll persevere. it will take time to crack the mystery, thank you for the tutorials hopefully they will make sense soon. congrats for the channel and samples, best I have seen so far!

when editing samples i can never see a waveform, just a shitty rectangle, no matter how much I zoom in. What's the problem?
@MULTIMAN-MUSIC7 жыл бұрын
Hello Solomon, not sure what you mean by a shitty rectangle. This are sample chains of many single cycle waveforms... their size is tiny, I cannot describe how tiny they are compared to any standard sample. I neverd zoomed in to the waveforms since there´s not much to change there apart of what you can from the main page. There might be a limitation in the OT zoom option since the slices are so small. Hope it helps.
@solomonjenkins95057 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I understand the difference between different types of samples. I just want to sample my synth and have it show up as waveform, up and down, and instead I just see a slightly thicker line where my sample is and no matter how much I zoom in it's always just a line. How do I see an actual waveform? Thanks for the quick response btw you might save me from getting slapped across the face which is what will happen if I don't figure this octatrack out enough to make a simple eurotrash song by new years lol made a bet with a friend
@MULTIMAN-MUSIC7 жыл бұрын
Hello Solomon. In order to make a sinclge cycle waveform from a synth you have recorded, you have basically two options. One is to extract the single cycle waveform in a Audio Editor in Win or Mac... That´s is how I did it. The second option would be using the OT, I never done it there but I guess is quite simple, you zoom in until you see a complete cycle of the waveform and you adapt the start and end of loop according to that waveform. The whole reason why my Sample Chains work with slice function is because they are first arranged in Ableton like 64 samples of the same lenght and pitch... Not sure if it still makes sense to you. Try playing one of my Single Cycle Samplechains in a asudio player to hear this are not normal samples recorded from a synth. There are tons of tutorials online about how to make your own single cycle waveforms and all of them use some sort of audio editor. Hope it helps.
@solomonjenkins95057 жыл бұрын
thanks for the response again, but really I just wanna know how to sample my korg m3 and moog sub 37 and see them show up as a waveform in the audio editor. I have zoomed in and out to the max and it always appears rectangular, I can never see a waveform. Any idea what the problem is?
@MULTIMAN-MUSIC7 жыл бұрын
Hi Solomon. Have you managed to sample audio at all? If you sample any audio in OT, and go to editor you must see a waveform... not a single cycle one, but a wave of some sort, if you see nothing is that you are doing something wrong (not sure what you mean by rectangular). If the volume is too low, maybe the waveform is not showing, but you should see something... Once you sample in the OT, you have to edit the RAM Memory slot ... or FLEX recorder, dont remeber the same... to save that as audio... maybe that´s your problem. Sorry if I can´t help much, maybe asking in Elektronauts forum can bring you some more answers. Cheers!
