Outdone yourself with this video, I'll stand corrected but I think you are the first (only) person to show the FFP and SFP side by side. Something I've been waiting to see as shops not open.

You might try using the Sunshade all the time. It improves the clarity of most scopes at higher power setting; both at long and short distances. Why it does this; is due to providing an improvement in less deviations of light reflection. Using low reflective target paper will improve group size as well. Just because you can’t see mirage doesn’t mean it is not there; it is always there just not detectable by your eyes. Trends to use complicated recital markings detract the view clarity of any scope that uses them. The human eye can only focus on one object clearly. Adding numerous objects confuses the focus of your eye. You can simply aim better with one than numerous ones that reduce both clarity and view. Using a simple one eight inch target dot works best.

I wasn't planning on buying one of these but honestly the Helix FFP is perfect on my Maverick and I'm glad I bought it. I 100% agree about the tiny reticle and I did a followup session on it after my video release. Great video buddy

Very nice side by side comparison of the zoom on both the first and second focal plane reticles Giles, but i'd diffidently lean towards the second focal plane as the reticle is much more useful at 6x power and suits my style of shooting.

Nice video again Giles, knowledge with a humorous slant, nice. A good explanation and you absolutely nailed it on people's views of either one! I'd buy these if I could afford it but my shooting is simple target at no more than 50 yard so I had to get something at half the price :-( but I did manage to get an FFP, which got good reviews. Not had it long so not done accuracy test yet but in reviews it came out OK. But the Helix looks very good indeed and the warranty, excellent!

I can only really comment regarding the SFP version, which for the money I paid (£329 from OW) is good value for money. If I was to compare it to other scopes I have or have owned, it has similar glass to the Sidewinder and better than the Diamondback Tactical, the fit and finish is where it excels at this price point, better than the previously stated scopes and comparable to say the Midas Tac, obviously not the glass. The Midas Tac is a different level regarding glass and price point.

Good video I've got the helix sfp on my .243 and its a very good scope for the money it suprised me how good it was . I have a nightforce nxs to compare it with . I'm not saying it's better than it but scary how good they are for the money and would recommend any one wanting a very good deal for a scope getting one .

There is a young entrepreneur in the UK who is making magazines for crosman pistols and rifles. They are printed from carbon reinforced nylon and come out from under a scope at a 45 degree angle. I have two one on my 1322 pumper rifle and another on my 2240 converted to a rifle. Easy to load or unload, no fumbling to load pellets. 9 in the magazine and one up the spout. You can find them on utube Please do a review on these as our young entrepreneurs need all the help they can get.

I really Think my Hawke Frontier Series is a good scope though ED glass both from China, and price point Hawke is tad better than Helix. Even their 30mm tube FFP also has the Dirty FFP. HOWEVER THE 2020 Hawke Sidewinder is better bang for the buck. Just my opinion though. If ya want even More look at Vortex Strike Eagle or Riton 34mm tubes and serious elevation is awesome Japanese glass vortex made in Philippines and Riton is now going to be Made in the USA. So check it out .

One problem with all that bud and that's not one of them scopes come with a lifetime zero quibble guarantee in fact I don't know of any other scope thats affordable that does, so when a hawke, mtc, vector, discovery, nikko sterling or any other budget end scope breaks or won't hold zero then they are nothing but a paper weight and then you gotta buy a new one 👌 At one point scopes like the hawke sidewinder and mtc viper pro were the ultimate airgun scope in my eyes, I wanted either one so bad. But when some of the top shooters in the world get together and managed to get a company like FX to finance a new venture like this with a focus on quality internals, high standards and a lifetime guarantee at the core, well that pretty much speaks for itself imo

Hi Giles . Really Interesting ! , At last - a simple explanation of the 1st/2nd focal plane conundrum, I have been enjoying Your videos for quite a while now , though all the FX (Beautiful and brilliantly made as they are ) aren't really "My Thing!" and also Out of My price range , I really miss Your springer /gas ram video's , and also that unknown masked man commonly known as "The Twig " I hope Your going to do some more soon . Keep up the great work , Good Luck with the 101 shop , Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .

If Element scopes are this good, apparently, then tell us what's wrong ( if anything ) with Hawke, Vortex and the 'upper levels' of Bushnell scopes, and why I should have to pay this much more for an Element rifle scope. For the average scope buyer, I wonder if there is really enough difference to justify the purchase. I really wish I could be convinced, before I go now and buy a new scope for my Sako Finnfie II .22 caliber rifle. P.S. I always give Giles' videos a Thumbs Up,.. he is, after all, very entertaining!

Great video, too much scope for my airgun being a break barrel, but I did find a still in the sealed package Bushnell with zoom for cheap at a fleamarket, scope was meant for a real rifle. (Michigan) Have a great day, even if it's cloudy, maybe the sun will come out tomorrow !! ;)

Just wanted to ask if you could do a review on the Umarex 850 M2 Empire .177 Rifle? There’s other reviews on KZbin but I know your review would be better than the others. Thanks for all your uploads and wish you all the best👍🏼

I don't think the rectical moves along with magnification in FFP. Since it is in front of the magnification lens, it is magnified when you dial the ring.

Bought a SFP from your shop a few weeks ago. I like the scope a lot. However after watching the vid I have come away a little confused. Giles said that the clicks needs to be calculated. I thought that the number of clicks remained the same regardless of the magnification setting, and that it was the holdover on different magnifications which had to be calculated in relation the calibrated x24. Help please. This is my first dial scope.
@c.e8282
@c.e8282 3 жыл бұрын
You are right the clicks work out the same on any mag. 6 12 and 24 are relatable for hold over for example if you hold 4 lines in 24 it would be 2 in 12 and 1 in 6
@RussDouglas222
@RussDouglas222 3 жыл бұрын
Clicks remain the same on FFP scopes (not SFP), because the reticle stays the same size in relation to the target being observed as you zoom. On SFP scopes I believe the calcs are only correct at one magnification. Cheers. Russ

I just wish I knew what he is talking about😂😂. Never even heard of 1st and 2nd focal plains. I just want to try to get a decent scope with the oversized zero wheel on top to adjust hold over easily. After this though I don’t think I’m interested in anything that sounds so complicated.
