So difference is high clearance links, other shocktowers, plastic gears instead of steel, bumpermount? Thanks for clarify.

Yes, all those differences and a few more, there is a list in the video.

@@fiveeight0sixsix thanks man, to bad they went to plastic gears instead of steel gears in the gearbox. But i do like the Elements, love the shocks. Just finished my Element Gatekeeper.

I'd be very surprised if the plastic gears cause any problems, they seem to work perfectly well in all the RTR versions that are getting mistreated out there!

update i was kind of worried about the plastic gears at first but they are held up fine, good thing about plastic gears is how quiet it is.

Is this essentially an ecto that's in kit form? Or are they different ?
@fiveeight0sixsix Жыл бұрын
Ecto is based on the Gatekeeper and has some differences

Hi and thank you for your video. I am still struggling on what to buy, my ideal one would be Ecto but i know i will change so many things, that i would prefer buy a kit and add my chosen parts. My question is based on this kit, can we install the same rear shock system that u can find on the Ecto? Thanks again.
@fiveeight0sixsix2 жыл бұрын
It has the shock mounts for the Ecto, but not the trailing arms or any of the other parts that allow that setup.

Buy a Gatekeeper kit, so you can build it yourself, and later on just switch the body to a ecto body.

It's been approximately a month since you uploaded the video. In that time, have you noticed any durability issues with the plastic transmission gears? If building this kit, or the GateKeeper (which also includes the plastic transmission gears), would it be "best" to stick with the included plastic gears...or, would it be "best" to upgrade to the machined steel gears?
@fiveeight0sixsix2 жыл бұрын
Been out for a few runs with it already, absolutely no durability issues. My crawling/trailing style includes plenty of punching over obstacles and plenty of tumbling down hills. I'm running 3s and the Hobbywing AXE 2100Kv, so a decent amount of power. I always recommend running things as they come and only upgrading the parts that break. For reference I've been running Element trucks for just over a year now and have not broken a single part, the only thing I've replaced for durability has been the plastic servo horn on the original Builders Kit (which didn't break, but was something I was nervous about based on the same part breaking in a different truck).

@@fiveeight0sixsix Fantastic, and thank you. Going to build the trans as-is...but, with OD option 2 (12%). Thankfully, the Gatekeeper kit includes gears for all 3 options.

Steel vs plastic gears is not a draw. Steel gears are always better, even when factoring the VERY SLIGHT weight penalty. I wouldn't even consider the steering horn being an upgrade because people use their own servo's that you can get with metal horns anyways. Either version will work for anything you want to build. They're both very capable.

Thought the builders kits come with the gray hard plastics

No they aren't, the bend is supposed to be at the axle making them high clearance.
