When I did that years back I don't know if I just used too much potassium Iodide or what but that reaction took off and it was boiling with huge purple clouds and I lost most of it because I heated up so much in the backyard
@BackMacSci3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm did you use 30% hydrogen peroxide or have either of the solutions heated? Those would be my guesses as to why the reaction ranaway.
@clovenbeast51833 жыл бұрын
@@BackMacSci yeah I think I had 30% hydrogen peroxide. It's been years ago I just know that it heated up real quick lol
@clovenbeast51833 жыл бұрын
Probably didn't help that it was like 4 oz worth of potassium iodide

@@clovenbeast5183 OOOF I hate when I use a bunch of a chemical and the reaction doesn't work how you want it to. But I bet that iodine cloud was a memory you'll never forget!

Hello, there are other ways that involve buying iodine tincture from a pharmacy or convenience store and using acid and peroxide like i did in this video. That method makes small quantities of iodine, but i'm not sure if it's cheaper. Why do you want to make iodine?
