Bravo my friend it's a lot better than waiting a month or more with salt , vinegar and peroxide . You can covert potassium iodide crystals to iodine crystals with a simple procedure and some muratic acid . Then make your own tincture. Potassium iodide crystals are food grade and easily purchased . You can find the procedure for conversion on you tube .I hope this info is useful to someone . Again great video this will save me and others a lot of time .

I have been trying to find some other videos that are trying to do what you did. The problem is that no one can come close to what you did. You are really quite extrodadinary excellent!!!!! I like this process. Is it reasonable to assume this would work well on connectors that have not been broken down? I have buckets of plugs and connectors that are to big a hassle to break down. I figured a leach would be best to avoid the labor of breaking them to bits. .

The cost of consumables & time saving verses extra work hours with traditional methods, may make the high cost of chemicals justified with the increase productivity, completion deadline time and profit. What about the waste produces and can they be recovered / recycled & reused? Hopefully there is a recovery process like with a Copper 2 Chloride solution to cut cost & waste.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. So then it does not have anything to do with raising the ph. But now I am lost. Do you mean its a reagent to see if you got the result you wanted? Also could you tell me how you came up with your procedure? Was it from some other reseach? I ask cause you found the Holy Grail of how to process gold pins. Cost is not an issue when you factor in the harsh and hard to dispose of chemicals, let alone your time and the cost of those harsh and dangereous chemicals. You da Man!!!!!!

​@@TrinityGoldRecovery Most countries are now using Povidone Iodine (Betadine) for medical/surgical situations because it lasts longer and apparently can't be used for manufacturing Meth or makes it harder to be used. Povidone is also synthetic and doesn't work for this process unless you add acid and that defeats the purpose of using iodine. I guess it has too much Nylon-polymer which interferes. I tried 2 types Povidone and after 2 days no reaction. I then grabbed some 2.5% Iodine tincture containing Potassium Iodide and it worked within 20 minutes. I believe it would have been way faster if I had more tincture. Need to find a source that has larger than 50ml bottles here in Canada. Thanks for the video, I hate using Aqua Regia. You know of an alternative that could be used instead of caustic soda?

Some elements of primary gold are mixed before plating, such as cadmium, silver and nickel. Iodine dissolved gold along with those metals...

I have considered the process but their is a great deal unknown. Like how much gold will 100ml of iodine hold? I would have to do some testing first. Iodine is expensive about 20 USD for 100 ml. How much iodine did you use? Your beaker was at 200 ml - pin volume

What percentage of gold (or "karat") is the end product? Edit : I see at the end the claims are of 22 karat but how do we know that? Is iodine such a selective Catalyst that it only interacts with the gold and not any of the other base metals in a significant way, or are there just no other base metals present in a significant amount in the original material?

I don't really know how many carats of gold, the carats of gold coated on the pins, the recovery has been of that quality. 24 carats will not be available until I refine...

i have 1 question, I was trying to do this for bga chips. I will take around 200 gram of bga chips and make them powder by blending and crushing. Then I put iodine solution in the beaker with powdered bga chips. Will that still extract gold or will it react with other metals?? Please guide

no, it's doesn't work of gold wire, only work on gold plating... bga inside that's some of 18K and some of 21K pure gold wire bonding...
